How to Crochet a Stacked Double Crochet || Never get a hole at start of Double Crochet Row again!
Perfect straight edges on your double crochet projects. Plus, the stacked double crochet (which could also be called a stacked single crochet because you are stacking singles to make a double crochet) makes the edges have a nice V that you can crochet into for a border.
Most crochet patterns have you begin with a ch 3 at the start of a double crochet row and it counts as a stitch. But that leaves a funny looking stitch and hole at the start of the row. Instead of beginning with a ch-3, do a stacked double crochet!
It is worked very similarly to a single crochet but it is made in two parts. The result is a beautiful stitch that looks just like a dc and it has a nice "v" at the edge. You will get clean double crochet edge and a straight edge every time.

I have crocheted for over 55 years and have learned many things from you young KZfaqrs. I've tried sever different ways to begin double (treble, etc) crochet rows neatly without the dratted hole at the beginning and the method you taught is a absolutely the best. Thank you and/or whoever came up with this technique. I absolutely love it.

I found a stacked treble in some obscure old pattern and honestly, was struggling to perfect it. Mine looked too chunky for some reason so, I set out to consult the oracle and found this video! Awesome stuff. I’ve been crocheting for 10+ years, thought I’d seen it all but, am learning new techniques from you with your videos! You clearly state and show what needs to be shown without 2 hours of small talk at the beginning. You’ve got another happy subscriber. Looking forward to learning more with you!

I've been using a similar technique, but piercing that sc, instead of crocheting into its left leg, is the very best solution! I'm surprised that patterns still rely on the "chain 3 and turn" method. Thanks so much for this video!

I've been doing this recently and loving my edges. For how many eons did we chain 3 before someone said - hey, there's a better way? For people like me, I think we were simply people who follow the rules. I'm amazed by how many times in my life I've said, "I didn't know we were allowed to do that." 😅😅
