I made an alteration to the pattern that I really like and wanted to share. Anywhere there is a single crochet, replace with a half double. The single crochets set slightly below the height of the top most part of the cables and I know it'll get fixed in the final row but I like the way the half double looks, I enjoy doing it more than a single crochet, it evens the row height and gives a bit more height when working the single crochet rows.

Part of the height issue was my fault in the choice of my yarn. I used lion brand feels like butta and the yarn just collapses on itself. It takes ages to get height out of it.

Helpful tip for anyone who missed a stitch! So in one of the rows I accidentally skipped the stitch (I call it #5) that comes before the skipped stitch in the moose track section. Well I did the whole rest of that row and the whole next row of single crochet across. It wasn't until the following row when I went to do the moose track that I realized my error. Instead of ripping out all of two and a partial rows here's what I did. I went back to my single crochet row (the missed stitch is the row below this one. I hope this is making sense) and I did a double crochet down (like a spike stitch I guess) in the row where I missed it then kept on going. Giving me that stitch back for my current row. You can't see it in the front. Doesn't look any different. You can only see it in the back if you know where to look very closely.

If you don't like how the back side has flaps from sc row I figured out how to work it in so all sts are flat and together. When working sc row: When you come to the 9 cable sts before you sc; go through sc from previous row, yarn over, pull through one loop, yarn over and pull through one loop again, then go through first cable st on main row and pull through all loops. Hope this helps!

Many designers won't answer questions. I'm unsure what's up with that. Happy to make designs but little or no pattern support. I'm unsure if people monitor their content to find errors when someone messages. Know knows. My crystal ball doesn't know that question. Wish I did though.

Currently doing my second attempt at this pattern! On my first attempt I used the yarn I had on hand, which was WAY too thick for this… I would have had to use 10+ balls of yarn to complete the blanket (I had already started it with 141 chain length)…I finished one whole roll by row number six 😭 At this point I decided to abandon it and restart with a different yarn. I also repeatedly miscounted and had to do the first few rows over again because of it… twas not fun, but certainly a learning experience…. This second attempt seems to be going much better with the lighter weight yarn! I miscounted again on the first row (lol) but I rolled with it this time instead of redoing it all, so instead of having two single stitches on one end, that side will have three singles after the two front post doubles. I don’t mind the unevenness much so far. In both iteration, I found it weird how there’s flaps on the wrong side of the blanket where the front post doubles are (?) the flaps did make the first wrong-side rows of single stitches a bit confusing, but I got the hang of it. It still does look a bit weird to me at this point though… I’ll update when I’m finished with the blanket!
@brdwaydreamr
@brdwaydreamr 10 ай бұрын
The flaps! That was my question. How do you get rid of the flaps? This is my second attempt at this pattern and I don’t think I’ll ever use the blanket with the flaps threatening to grab my toes when I throw it on.
@heidemastny9524
@heidemastny9524 20 күн бұрын
So I crocheted my "wrong side" single crochets to the "back flaps" because I thought that was correct. (Also did this to the two end fpdc area.) Seeing this, I now know it's not. However, it looks SOOOO much better! It creates a kind of single crocheted "pocket" that covers that braid. And no looming flaps to catch anything on!

Just try a swatch. I find with variegated yarn the texture can be lost. However, that's a personal choice.

I'm unsure about those two brands. I haven't seen them to give you perspective. It's part of the world of being global that we have limited opportunities based on location. It's a Number #4 Medium Weight yarn if that helps you in anyway.

In the singe crochet rows (WS), are we going into the stitches behind the cables, or into the tops of the actual cables themselves?

@@sherylhoffman1339 I watched the video a few more times and noticed that it was in fact smooth on the back on Mickey's project didn't. So, what I did was keep 2 separate rows, one for the front and one for the back. Sometimes they converge, but for the cable they are separate.

You cannot post photos on this platform but from what you are saying that's correct. If you go to my recent video of the Mystery Crochet Hat. i did cables and near the end of the video, I flipped the hat inside out to attach the pom poms. It would look just like that.

I'm not 100% sure. Try a small swatch of it and see how many chains are used in the regular chain that you don't need if you do it with foundation instead.

New here. I want to make this into a full size blanket, I'm lost tho when you say 20+21 I'm not sure is this means I count 21 stitches in total or if it's 20 stitches and then I count 21 stitches after that.

When you chain. you chain in multiples of 20... so 20, 20, 20, 20... when youthink you are big enough or want to finish the chain, chain the final 21 and you will have the balance for this pattern to sit evenly.
