If you love crochet texture, you may just fall in love with the Study of Texture Afghan by Mikey. It is in 8 different sections using Bernat POP! yarn. Using self-striping yarn like Caron Cakes, you can let the colour work itself out. It turns out lovely.
Please make sure you follow the tutorial to get this look. The instructions are slightly different, if you follow both, you will end up with errors. The tutorial shows you several tips on getting back on track with stitch counts.
Get the free written pattern at thecrochetcrowd.com/crochet-s... #crochet #learntocrochet #crochettutorial .
This video is closed-captioned for the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities. The captioning is also available in multiple languages such as Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese. The written pattern is only available in English. . *** .

Hello Mikey - I am a 75 year old living in New Delhi and a great admirer of your tutorials as you make everything look so simple and easy. My only experience with crochet is one completed doily and a few practice swatches!!!!! Am so inspired by your videos that I have decided to do a few simple projects and then try my hand at this textured blanket - a big thank you for this stitch along!

Hey there Mikey ☺️ I just love love love this blanket I’m only 17 rows in but love the changes in the pattern!! So beautiful!! But I must say I have tried and undone to try and get 53 sc in row 17 but I’ve given up lol and you say in the tutorial “if you need to add another stitch, you gotta do what ya gotta do” and so I went ahead and added a stitch in each corner to get me to 53 and woohoo ya wouldn’t know lol your tutorials are amazing!! Thank you so much!!! 🙏☺️👍

Sir, you are a an amazing instructor and an absolute delight to watch. Thank you for so much fantastic content! I especially appreciate that you have a “do what you gotta do” mentality because life is stressful enough without unnecessary anxiety over what should be your relaxing activity (or hobby in my case). Additionally, I’m kinda oddly fascinated by your technique/motion without fingering the yarn on your hook or moving your project holding hand excessively without weirding out your consistent tension. It all looks much less tense and fiddly than other designers, and I hoping to find a way to reduce wrist stress and hand pain while enjoying what I love (surely, I’m not alone in this). I’m searching your uploads for more specific instructions on this basic movement, but haven’t found it yet. Do you happen to have a video on this? I realize this motion must seem so natural to you, and I accept it might not even be teachable. 😬 But if it is, I would love to learn.

Dear Mickey, I have wanted to make this project since you first offered it. I felt so unable to do it. I have what I call my year gift box with names of my loved one's and friends on little pieces of paper folded. At Xmas I pull out a name, research patterns for a few weeks, then progress through the year to finish the gift. This year I pulled out a very special person's name, one of my best friend's children now adult with her own family. I decided to get out of my comfort zone an at last try this lovely afghans with your wonderful teaching. I am looking forward to improve my crochet knowledge along the next weeks. Thank you for your generosity with sharing your beautiful talent.

Did you have problems with the counts coming out correctly? I'm on section 3 now and the first row isn't coming out correctly for me as far as counts. how can round 13 be 47 stitches in between corners when the previous round was only 41 and I'm only adding 1 stitch to each end corners so that would only be 43 in between each corner? what am I missing? please help!!!

Four years ago I made this blanket for my mother, I struggled and whined through the entire thing lol. But in the end resulted in a beauty that mother adores. I pulled up the pattern and video again, wanting to make it again following the diagrams and stitch counts, have frogged multiple times, I have come to round 20 and found that somehow I have the right stitch count without the 2 dc in the last stitch of previous round. I am not complaining or questioning, simply thinking to myself "hmmm, well what would be the odds of that?"

I bought a ton of yarn last week because it was on sale with no plan for it. I think I found my plan. Not using cakes but will try it with 3 black white and Grey. Wish me luck.

Hi, I'm working on the Afghan and I'm having trouble on 25th row , I have 82 stitches as pattern in the previous row but the ch-3 spaces always counts 21 not 20 , what should I do?

Mikey, I've just finished my afghan. Your tutorials are presented so good. I'm going to give this as a gift. Is there a story that goes along with this afghan? I'd love to include it with the afghan. Thank you again.

Thankyou so much you are so easy to follow. I was wondering if a five together double crochet would work in replacement of the popcorn stitch?
