Even though the Atreyu Crochet channel is for beginners, I think it's necessary to build upon the basics. The great thing about crocheting is that even the most complicated of patterns can still be broken down to the very basics of crocheting.
Don't ever approach a crochet pattern with doubt. Simply break down the pattern and approach it one stitch at a time. If a stitch is foreign to you, then find a KZfaq tutorial on it, learn the stitch, and resume with the pattern. Although our starting point is that of a beginner, it is also true that that is not our destination.

I like your second method of putting the dc in the chain. When you use the lower loop it leaves more *meat* at the top giving the stitch something stronger than one strand to hang on to. I actually use the *bump* on the back of the chain stitch. Love your tutorials and appreciate your sharing your skills with us. *~ Happy Subscriber*

That’s so funny, I call it meat too ( unless that was for me) 😂 And yeah, I’ve seen people using the bump on the underside but it seems tedious to do with that many chains🤷🏾‍♂️ Anyway, I’m happy to hear that you are enjoying the content. Thanks for taking the time to let me know 🙂🙏🏾

Hmmm...I am 63 and have waist length hair...was looking for a ponytail wrap for riding on motorcycle.... Didn't find one to crochet ,I'm gonna do my own pattern for one...But this I made and can tuck ponytail in bottom and cinch it up...Pretty darn sweet...THANX...enjoyed your tutorial...

Crocheting over the drawstring is Very Smart. I'd sure like to see how you put this on. I think i'll make one with dark fingering weight yarn to put on my super gray hair.
