How to Crop the Final Row in Pro Stitcher for an edge 2 edge design

Hi everyone,
When I am building my edge 2 edge design in Pro-Stitcher, I always make the dimensions of the quilt larger. I do this because I can go back and crop out the final row to make it fit just right. This is how I do the final row when I am working on an edge 2 edge design. I get everything ready to placed then I go into crop the part I need.
Thanks for watching!

Brand new Amara owner here. I’ve watched lots of your videos. You have a great, down-to-Earth style and explain things without a lot of fluff. I’m heading to my LA to finish my 1st quilt and will be using your cropping method. Keep the great videos coming!

Hi Adam! I know you made these videos a long time ago, so I hope you still see comments from them. I just have to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video series. They are SO helpful with teaching me how to use my new longarm machine (an Amara 20 ❤). I’ve successfully quilted two quilts now, following your videos from start to finish. When I’m retreating to my quilt room, I tell my husband “I’m going to hang out with my good buddy Adam”! You’re a wonderful teacher and your passion for helping others shows. I hope to meet you in person at the Paducah Quilt show next week!

Thank you for this well-done, logical progression group of videos. I like the ‘table’ concept for pinning the backing to the belly bar. Also like your illustration of the burrito method for properly attaching the backing to the take-up bar. The idler bar is a new feature for me, I’m sure your method can save time.

Awesome! I’ve watched the whole series from the loading video. I’m grateful you have decided to do this! I don’t own a Handiquilter longarm yet, but here’s hoping. However, a lot of your tips and tricks are very helpful to any long arm quilter. I am using a friend’s Juki 2200QVP. It’s old, not fancy, but I can still use your methods to achieve the best possible result. The bonus for me is that I can practice all these on our Philanthropic Quilts! Quality quilting for Children’s Hospitals, cancer centers, hospice centers, veterans, etc. Others in the guild do the piecing, but I want my quilting to be the best it can be. Thank you Adam!

Thanks, Adam for your great tutorials. I just finished a quilt to the final pass but I think I didn’t estimate enough length to do a proper crop. It acted like it was back at the top and so the closed edge was now stitched at the top of the design instead of off the bottom. I wonder if I’d added several inches to the new area and then cropped outside. Maybe that’s where I made the big boo-boo?

Thank you, Adam! I’ve learned tons from you and now I’m asking you for another tutorial. ((If there is one already done, please tell me.) I’ve watched many Prostitcher videos and I see many zoom used but everyone goes so fast I can’t tell how zoom works. I get the buttons and the commands but it never seems to take me to where I need to see up close. When the design is close, I can’t find my needle. I hope this makes sense.

Love your videos. So helpful and easy to follow. I have tried this method twice and got the same results both times. I am doing something wrong consistently! The top of my cropped row gets the straight stitching across from point to point and the bottom of the row stitches out. What step am I missing? Thanks Adam!
@adamsewfun.
@adamsewfun. 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delayed response. I was in Dallas teaching when this came through and just getting around to responding to things. It's hard to answer without seeing a photo, or being there but it sounds like you are either cropping the row in the wrong place (the top) or not moving the start point to the correct row to start. Will you send me an email and we can troubleshoot and try to get to the bottom of the issue.

Hi Adam! Thank you for this video, extremely helpful! My question is does this pertain to designs which start at the bottom of the design or do need to do something different? Thank you for your help - Weezie
@adamsewfun.

The only thing that changes when the pattern starts on top or bottom, so where the start point is made when you crop off the final row. It works both ways. You just have to remember to move your start point to the right row you want to stitch after cropping.

Do you keep your ruler base on while you are doing an edge to edge? And you mentioned classes in a video, are these online classes or in person? I jus flip back and forth between your videos and I am learning. like the previous comment below...keep them coming as they are so helpful! Thank you!

I would just like to say that if you closed your edges under modify when you cropped out what you didn’t want to stitch it would stitch along that bottom on a straight line its self.
@adamsewfun.

I actually did close the edges. How crop works, sometimes it does some funny things when you crop desings intersections (start/stop) point out. It depends on the design and how it’s cropped

When it stitches across the bottom do you want it on the very edge of the quilt or off the edge?

I usually come off the quilt a bit but there is nothing wrong with stitching at edge. It’s all personal preference.
