This tutorial is the second in a series on how to cross step and noseride. First we will recap the key part of episode 1 on the Coanda Effect and the Bernoulli Principle. Then we will talk about having feet bisected by the stringer line and staying on toes in order to maintain rail engagement.

Yesssssss! Exactly my problem, I lose the inside rail in the exact same way you did… hand goes up to keep balance. I kinda figured this was the problem, but you have officially verified it. Can’t wait to try this out tomorrow

Wonderful! Thank you! My name is Luigi, and I have surfed fo 25 years, but I started old, at 38...I have a question: it seems to me that, when you have a ride to the left you have your right foot in front, and when you ride to the right you have your left foot in the front. Normally we are "labeled" to be a goofy foot if our right foot goes naturally to the front and a regular if in the other way. But, in order to cross-step, we shouldn't think of ourselves as being one or the other, but rather become both and use each stance as needed. Does it sound correct? I feel like I should try to develop this skill...

If you're noseriding in trim (going along the wave and not toward the beach), yes!

Is that a CJ Nelson’s longboard? If so, what do you think of it and what is the length

9'6 Sprout It's great in smaller conditions for learning to noseride (once you're in the pocket) Little harder to manoeuvre and set up the noserides than other longboards but very stable once in trim
