I’ve got the kit from reef phyto. I’ve been trying to culture copepods for about 6 months now with not much luck. Just don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Also I buy the copepod feed from reef phyto and store it in the fridge but after a couple of weeks it starts to smell like rotten eggs and I throw most of it away and order a new bottle. Anyway thanks for making the video. I was about to give up trying to culture copepods but I’m going to give it another try. I need to get hold of some rigid tubing from somewhere. And maybe I will add some kind of light as well. Fingers crossed it works this time, I’ve got a 2 year old scooter blenny and I’m constantly buying copepods for it which is working out quite expensive.

It’s odd how something just sometimes don’t seem to work for us! I had no luck hatching baby brine shrimp for years then all of a sudden it just worked for me. I don’t think I did anything different! I’d definitely give it another go and I do find they take time to get going and then you get lots!! Good luck 🤞

@@ianscoralreef8265 Talking about BBS, I tried it. They turned out fine for several days. But then the water got cloudy and pH decreases rapidly due to decomposition. I'm guessing its due to the yeast cells in the honey that I used to feed them with. But even if I replace honey with something else, I would still be encountering decomposition (low pH issues) as it is inevitable right? I dont really know how to culture BBS continuously. Theoretically purple photosynthetic bacteria should do the trick to get rid off the detritus fast without altering much pH. But that'd mean I'd have to have a continuous supply of the bacteria!

Lol! Maybe turn the air flow down a bit. Those pods look like they are in the washing machine. Good tutorial aside from that.

Why does no one ever mention temperature? Do they need heat?

The temperature doesn’t seem to make a massive difference I’ve had some success in a bucket in the garden too
