I may be alone in this, but I am a HUGE fan of at least the look of the fractures!! I understand why you don't like them, but I would buy polished or unpolished as long as they look cool to me!!! #TEAM FRACTURES!!!! I have made a few purchases and plan on many more regardless. I love your work and your vids. THANK YOU!!!!!!

I’m a recent subscriber and have commented a time or two about wondering how to figure out the direction of a cut, so I’m thrilled to see this new video. I’m an old hippy, so the insides of these agates reminds me of a few LSD trips. It is mind boggling to realize that the creator of this Universe and our souls hides beauty in the very smallest of things, art that takes centuries to create or the diamond ring that appears to surrounds the sun during yesterday’s total eclipse, no wonder its beauty and awe makes us emotional or giddy. I love seeing and hearing your wonder and enthusiasm. I’m moving up there soon and can’t wait to explore the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Superior! Thank you.

I think you should keep both halves of that last agate you cut because when they are opened up next to each other it looks like a butterfly or owl's eyes. It's very striking! Love them all and thank you for another great video. ❤from Idaho

It never ceases to amaze me that we humans are the only beings on earth that really appreciate the beauty of rocks, except maybe some that like 'shiny things'. It's like God made them just so we could appreciate another layer of His creativity.

@@andrewpritchett2324 You are correct, many of God's creatures are much more intelligent than we give them credit for and I did not mean to diminish them. Many birds collect things as gifts for their prospective mates. I am amazed at the intelligence of corvids, that is ravens, crows, and jays. I did not know that about the octopus. I just think we can appreciate the rocks on a different level.

Agates are formed like onions or jawbreakers. They're layers of bands stacked on top of each other so there is no "bad cut", it's just about avoiding quartz pockets and band disruptions if you can see them. Really the best way to cut an agate is the biggest face possible for polishing after. I cut and polish lakers in my garage for fun.

My husband watched a few videos with me and was saying he loved the lapidary equipment. I was thinking oh boy here we go (lol) but in the best way. I used to go almost every day during the summer and look for Agates down at the beach with my kids. Our family lives Agates and Agate dad has such gorgeous Agates. Makes me long for looking for Agates again. I'm disabled now but the idea of buying them and cutting them as he does looks like so much fun.😊

Highly recommend getting a waterproof, rechargeable flashlight that has a 5000k 519a LED. I was searching for quite a while to find something to view colors in rocks with accuracy (to help my color deficiency) and display/show off rocks to others. It makes a HUGE difference, that specific LED is very close to noon-day sunlight, at least as close as an inexpensive LED can get. There are slight improvements on an LED chip that is exponentially more expensive. I'll take 90% sunlight for 25 dollars, thanks. I have the Wurkkos FC11 (more "in the mid afternoon sun" spectrum) but the TLF golden has the same waterproofing, and the 5000k high noon sun spectrum LED. Totally changed the way I interact with rocks, from viewing my own tiny collection, to perusing (and selecting purchases) at shows, even other club members like using my light specifically because it shows off their stones better than their lights. The control over the light intensity is super easy, and allows for very low light, to all the way making a tree 100m away exposed in daylight and anywhere in between with a smooth ramping function.

Hi "Dad" Absolutely beautiful agates! I teach cab cutting here in South Africa. I want to point out differences between what i teach and the way you cut and polish. When i teach cutting, i insist that the student places the stone on a firm base and applies constant moderate force onto the stone with both hands steadying the stone, not moving it up and down or rotating it, the cut is cleaner that way. In our worshop we use a solid steel flat lap with loose grit in a WD 40 medium up to 600 grit and only then proceed to a sanding wheel for 800 1200, 1500, 2000, 3000 then polish, the surface is then flat with no evidence of curvature. I know it is different to the way you do it, i believe the way i teach is correct, but i also subscribe to the mantra that there is no right or wrong method, just different, the product will be the proof. Best wishes, go well.
