I got tears in my eyes seeing this... This was exactly what my patti used to do... She will ask me to remove the kalan... Give the last bit of vazhaipoo and serve piping hot pongal or the tiffin for the day in vazhaipoo madal... I got reminded of my dear patti who passed away a decade ago but the memories with her has never faded and videos like this just brings her back right in front of my eyes...

Shravan's salutation shlokam to elders and gurus is beautiful.👌👌I completely agree with Pati about what all she said about the banana flower benefits.👍In my house also all of us like this flower very much and we prepare dishes with this on weekly basis. Namaskarams Patti.. How to find out if the vazhai poo we have bought is a good one or bitter one? I am based in Dubai .. though I get vazhai poo here half of the times it turns out to be very bitter. If I am lucky I get a good one. I love vazhai poo paruppu usili. And make once a week. Loved the way you recollected your childhood memories 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Nice Mami. But don't throw away the petals. Today I did petals thuvayal Please google to see the benefits of banana flower petals(hearts). Thuvayal taste was awesome. Method is same for all thuvayal. Extra I added little peanut and coconut.I boiled the petals in very little water and ground into thuvayal. Please try and post that recipe. This vegetable is a boon to ladies health.
