In this video I show you how to cut your led strip lights and even your waterproof led strip lights for connectors. For TV's your going to want to use L connectors or also called 90 degree connectors and overall it's pretty easy but does take some time cutting it to length because you have to make cuts only where the marks are on the led strips as I show you in the video. Also a couple of the copper ends were tough to slip into the connectors and took a little bit of patience. It's a cleaner look for sure but does take much longer than just bending the led strip and running it around the edges of your TV. I've had no issues with doing this with waterproof strips but please be careful doing this with non waterproof cheaper strip lights because bending it may cause some lights to go out. Thank you for your time.

just some FYI.. if you make the line too long.. it won't work right... if you want really long run.. you will need to get one that runs 24v .. I've seem them a tad of 60' but 2 x 5 meter(16'x2) runs,... will not run off one 5v feed...

Hey I've got a question! Is there any way to change the direction of the l-shaped connector? Because apparently as long as you start taping the led lights on, you can only go one way with the angle - it only goes left (direction from the power), but I need it to go right....

I affixed my LEDs to aluminium strips (20x1.6mm) shaped to fit neatly on the rear of the tv. This acts as an heat sink which will extend the life of the strip immeasurably and looks better too. Also those clips are a pain in the arse but cheap! Love from Australia.

I have a question. Let's suppose I have a 15ft LED light strip that gets powered by a 12V adapter. If I use a corner connector to connect it to another 15ft light strip, will the lights get dimmer? Is it the same case for soldering? I'm asking this because I was about to buy corner connector, but the store didn't have it. They said that I could connect the strips with a soldering iron, but the lights would get dim.

It's all down to visual and proximity from the wall behind : too close you need the 90° angles, or if you have visual, you need the 90° angles, otherwise it's much better to just gently bend the strip, but not push on the bend. Every time you can avoid having to solder on this is really a relief!

Hi @TipsNNTricks, do you have any suggestions on how to use the 90 degree connector to do a left turn after a right turn. It seems that once you start, you can only use them to turn either only to the left or to the right, ultimately forming a square...

I have the problem with the 90's not holding connections and the segments turn different colors :( so I am trying again. with some 90's that are hopefully better quality because if this fails.. I will just make my own 90's with some thin wire and soldier them.. which in my opinion is the best way anyhow... and if you use wire then you can make different angles without the hardware.. you just bend a little or you can shorten the inner wires proportionally to the angle if you know what I mean oh and use shrink tube heat it and form to what ever angle you need.. ...... thanks for this vid... it did help...

I have the same problem regarding the change in color after the first connector. At first, I thought it was because my connectors have the + R G B sequence, while my LED strips have the + G R B (G and R flipped), but someone told me it doesn't matter what's written in the connectors, and that the only thing that matters is the you connect each letter to each letter of the other end of the STRIP, NOT THE CONNECTOR. So I ask you, are the copper part of your strips that go inside the connector bent or damaged? Because mine are pretty bent and I think that's whats causing the different colors right after the first connector. My other connectors in the circuit don't display different colors so that's my guess (and those other ones slipped inside the conector super easily, but the ones that are giving me problems are not)

Great video! Thanks for sharing! 🙏🏻 I have a question about the leftover led strip… because I’m gonna have this case here at home and I would like to reuse it… my question is: what do I do with the part (the end) that I will cut? I mean, one parte is going to be on the first “project”, in the end of it… can it just be “alone”? I don’t know if I made myself clear! 😅

I just installed led lights non waterproof and they are hard to get the led strip under the contacts in the connectors and slid them in with the double sided tape. You basically have to get the double side tape off the back of the strip where you cut the the led strips or it will stick before you can slid them under the contacts. I agree that its just better to loop the led lights in the corners.

I like that you ask the question "is it worth it?". Because it costs extra, is extra work, but looks cleaner. I think I'll be non-perfectionist and go with looping the corners this time, otherwise I'll overthink and never get it done. Good video, turned out really neat!

I went with the clean 90° angles and everything worked great … for a while. Those plastic connectors are so cheap and temperamental. If any of the RGB connections are weak you can see a colour difference and/or light intensity difference after the connector (and there’s 3 connections so good luck). After 1.5 years I’m just going full strip and looping the corners.

@@gyo911 Thanks for the input man! Yeah I went with looking the corners and everything has been working perfectly and hassle free ever since I mounted it! The only thing I did was helping it stick to the tv better by using some strips of electrical tape on "stress points" where the adhesive would get loose such as at both ends of the loop in ever corner. And it has stayed up just fine and haven't gotten more loose in the months since I mounted it! Best of luck with yours :)
