When i click on edit image, there is no background remover, it only shows smart mockups, and you may also like and duotone etc.

it's called "Edit Image" You should see it on the left side after clicking on that. it should be located pretty much at the top. However, it is a Canva Pro feature but you should even see it in Canva Free. It has to be there somewhere, in regular projects as well as video projects. Please try again!

Yes, you need Canva Pro to remove the backgrounds. However, there are many free alternatives in case you don't want to pay for Canva Pro, such as remove.bg or you could use something like GIMP (free both for Mac and PC).

what do you mean easier said than done?... that background removal tool has to be one of the easiest things I've ever used

yes, it's very easy. What I meant by this is just that it only becomes very easy once you realise you can use this background removal tool instead of having to use a "Pen Tool" or something comparable to get the job done. In fact, Canva purchased this background remover technology for millions is what I heard. And it really does a great job, even in comparison with professional software like Photoshop, etc.

It’s not proper destructive cropping though the rest of the picture is always there so you cannot put a glow or shadow around it.

you can download it with transparent background and reupload it it, then this should work.

I fail to see why people like Canva. I use the Affinity suite and have complete control over all my work. There was a learning curve I had to overcome but much simpler than using Canva. I really wish I could understand what people like about the overcomplicated Canva.

Well I cant use BG remover because I need Canva pro :( Is there any other way to do it for free?

not within Canva. but there are many free online tools online that you can use to get the job done. However, none is as good as the Canva background remover. But if the image is not complex, you might get satisfying results with a free BG remover such as remove.bg. You can also try the EZGIF background remover tool (search for these on Google).

I don't have the option detach from background now what do I do??

That's strange. When you right click on the background, then, if it spread over the whole design, you should definitely see "detach image from background." If you don't have a background set, you will see "Set Image as Background" which usually means that you do not have any background set yet."

Can you do this while making a video in canava or do u have to be in a picture mode and then save it and then move it to the video

you can do that in any project, it doesn't matter whether it is a video project or a "regular" canva project. You just gotta make sure that it is a photo where you try to cut out the image (remove the background). In fact, there is also a background remover for videos, but it does not work well. It only kinda works on very simple (unicolor) backgrounds...if you are lucky.

@@scatterbrainedreviews sometimes it can be a bit buggy but the background remover in Canva is a actually really good. Sometimes even better than in Photoshop. Glad u figured it out!
