Great tires, came nicely packed in the box, and did not compress kzfaq.infoUgkx985f3iNjxHFMO6JoE7CSGActiIEyumFx . It fitted my craftsman riding mower just fine. It is a little narrower than my stock tires but so far it has held up and works great. No air leaks and traction was great in my hilly backyard. Installation was good and was not too difficult, highly recommended.

I wish I had seen this method last year. I got sick of tearing up my lawn with turf tires on my zero-turn, so I put R1 (tractor) tires on it and it works great. I even have one of those tools, but never thought of cutting the turf tires. Thanks for the great idea and the video!

After my stock tires were done, I've installed sunf mud tires on my ride on mower, and I am now 99.9% stuck proof on my flatland here in East Tx. Used to be a misery. Going back to stock tires is a nightmare I am not willing to walk back into. If you got stock tires that are still in good condition, cut them up like this guy, you owe it to yourself! Thank you Sir for this nice tip! Well done!

I am a bit late to the party here, but I tried this and it works a treat. A fan of your vids. Not really as happy to be stuck in the mud as you but it looks like a hoot. I have a 100 ft. by 100 ft. slope about 25 degrees with rocks on the bottom and Lake Erie after that. Neighbors have rolled riding mowers, got stuck underneath, and dumped them in the lake. I use a dead man tether with the old seat switch so I can sit on the edge of the seat. A bumper weight for traction helps a lot. Doing it this way for 5 years. When the grass is really wet or dry it slides a bit still when heading downhill. Last week it kind of got away on me so I priced out some Carlisle Superlug tires. $141 each Canadian, no thanks. Cut the grass today with the paddle pattern and it is much better. Can even back up the hill a bit and when it slipped, the skid marks were no worse than before. Thanx, you the man!

So glad it is working out for you and be careful mowing that hill. thanks for watching.

The classic way tires have been modified is with a hot knife. Of course they cost up to ten times what that Harbor Fright tool costs. But they literally cut like a hot knife in butter. If I were modifying a tire for mud I would definitely cut a chevron tread. And I've had a LOT of experience with mud. Full time dairy farmer fo 20 years. Mud and manure were our nemesis.

I like the job on the tires. I don't know where you live, here in Kentucky that deck would be sitting way too low. It looks like the deck wheel bottoms are even with the bottom of the deck. Here we would have the bottom of the deck at least two inches off the average surface of the ground. And the bottom of the deck would be checked often and scraped free of any build up. There's a vacuum created by the blades the makes a better cut, but if the deck is all gunked up that vacuum can't form. Anyhow, I'm nitpicking. Nice tire job.
@chud3277 жыл бұрын
I think the old blades allow all the build up. I scraped off all of it and now it cuts like new. I keep my blade as low as possible so that I don't have to cut so often. Here in Florida, the grass grow way too fast. I need to take the deck off and put on a coat of rust prevention paint. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
@TheFootballman1236 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the grass, we cut our Bermuda at 1 inch

Nicely done. I'm guessing that's a lot cheaper than buying tires with tread but they must wear fast since you've already cut several
@chud3275 жыл бұрын

Do they seem to be getting more punctures or tears in between the lugs now? That's the only think I'd be worried about. Lug treads might be made with increased puncture resistant material than these turf savers, I don't know. My tires don't seem to be very thick material, in between the lugs

I am still running those tires on the front of my mud mower and it goes through all sorts of stuff. There has not been a puncture yet and thanks for watching.

Which tread do you think grips better out of the two that you made here? I’m about to do this to mine and i don’t know whether to go with the paddle tire style or the staggered tread like you have on the other side.

I don't have any real proof, but I think I liked the paddle design the best... Good luck and thanks for watching.

you know, i wonder if you scuffed up the treads you left and expoxed the cones you cut off on top of them if it wold hold. i shold try that with my 35's, if it fails i can pull or cut them back off.

Yes, try it. It would be a cool experiment. Thanks for watching.

I like it a lot when it is mowing time. I don't ever want to not have a zero turn again. Thanks for watching.

I just got a second set of tires for mine. Its really dry during the summer and really wet during the winter. So turf tires are useless in the winter and anything with grip tears up the grass in the summer.

I love mine and use them year around. I have actually gone more aggressive and have put atv tires on. I love them even better and while cutting grass, I am careful and it doesn't mess it up. I haven't been stuck mow ever since. Thanks for watching.

You could have clued the chevron shapped cut offs onto the same pattern knobs upside down for a more nobby tire.

Here is a tip: cut 2 full rows of tread and cut slits in each tread
@Jonathan-uo6ui7 жыл бұрын
Well yeah it's normal that the turf tires don't work for you. They are designed to not damage the lawn but also have enough grip to mowe it. But I get it the mud tires are a better option in your case because you rougher terrain and you are not a person who gets a heart attack if their lawn gets a bit damaged. But yeah If I was you I would buy a set of mud tyres at a later point. But this is a good temporary salutation for mowing your lawn the same day. Btw love how you say "thanks for watching" at the end of every comment. For the record that was not sarcastic
@chud3277 жыл бұрын
I may some day get a real set of better tires, but for now, I am happy. I am truly thankful any time anyone watches one of my videos even if they give a mean and nasty comment. I some times enjoy being a smart mouth right back with them. Most probably think I am being sarcastic with my "Thanks for watching", but I am not. BTW, thanks for watching and for the great comment.
