I have this same kit and you can do your own quite easily if you can reach behind your head, all you need in addition is a mirror in front and one either side. The new ones I have seen dont come with the scissors and they never did come with clips . We have saved an absolute fortune over UK salon prices over the years .

I did my first DIY haircut today using the Combpal! I was really nervous but desperate for a haircut - and desperation won. A good pair of hair scissors and a three-way mirror were necessities. I bought the Self-Cut System 3-Way Mirror directly from the company for $100. Pricey, but worth it. This mirror is wide enough so I could easily see all sides of my head. Amazon has cheaper versions but people complained about plastic hinges breaking, warped reflections and small sizes. It took me over 1 1/2 hours to cut my own hair while stopping and starting the video tutorial, but I am pretty satisfied with the results. Like so many skills, the first time was the hardest. As I get more experience I am sure it will get easier. FYI, I have medium thick hair so the Combpal worked for me. Some reviewers complained that their fine hair was too slippery for the Combpal. just received the comb pal you must practice without cutting any hair. after a little practice. I tried cutting my hair and was actually pleased with the result. also cut my partners hair and that turned out pretty good. I'm not giving up my hair dresser but in a pinch this thing can fix unruly hair.

What an amazing tool. Got a birthday cut from my 18 year old daughter tonight. I followed the video to a certain extent but went with whispy strands around the kneck / nape area as I know would never get that area neat. I do have thick course hair though which I suppose hides a multitude of sins. For me, this will be my forever go to DIY money saver tool. Thank you heeps to the inventor. Plus - having full control regarding length is heaven sent. Meaning, I have had good cuts in the past - but -- hate hate hate --- that "just been cut look" - too short on top and waiting for a month for it to look normal.!!

She knows what she is doing with or without this comb. look at her cuts. They are approximate and rough. Never as the comb height. A nice shaver also has all these comb attachments !

@@claireryan8074 Yes, I got the tool and scissors and now just need to do it. That is my typical hair cut and am tired of way it looks. Hair grows rapidly. Can always wear a hat. Just think wait until morning. Great video. Makes it look easy... They always tell me my hair is so easy to cut...

Brilliant gadget. I have had this now for a year and have saved enough to pay for a holiday. I am lucky to have thick hair. The results every time are great. Get the length I want. Last time I went to a Salon. The stylist mentioned during the cut -- " Oh - so this looks like a re-style" ? --- Meaning in hairdresser speak - another 10 quid ? Thumbs up to the inventor. Pity it's not sold in the UK.

I think with this video and practice I can produce the look I can live with until it grows out and I get another chance to practice cutting my own hair again. I've found over the years that taking small amounts of hair, and being patient and following the last prior cut that I can produce at least an even cut. Pixie cuts are most forgiving like this cut with my curly and thick hair.

Just got mine and it took me about half an hour to do the pixie cut with thinning shears. It looks better than the salon. I felt like I was doing it backwards and in high heels but I caught on.

I have this and love it. The first time I used it I was a little scared that It wasn't going to work It seem like it was going to be too short. (it is even harder using it on yourself) but it stilled turned out good, I just used it again and it turned out better than the last time. It has been several months since the first hair cut and I like that. If you are using it on yourself use a couple of mirrors so you can get all around your head. To me and for me it was a good purchase.

I would recommend it for beginners. I was able to do a haircut for my mother and mother-in-law. I can’t say that it was perfect, I need to continue practice, but my mom told me that she doesn’t need to go to hairdresser anymore.

It looks like an interesting gadget. It definitely looks like it would be a useful tool for someone who is just making a first attempt at cutting hair. I would say that you could use the clippers with it as well as shears. The attachments that come with clippers only go up to 1”. My husband is the family barber and stylist, my hair is to my elbows, so it is sharp shears only on my locks, my two teen boys like their hair cut short, so he uses the clippers with different attachments on the back and sides, then he takes the attachment off and does clipper over comb cutting for the top and for blending. He has given each of my sons over a hundred haircuts each, he has gotten a lot of experience. My husband actually gave a friend of mine a haircut using the clippers only a couple weeks ago as her salon was still closed and she had not had a haircut in over four months, her pixie was pretty overgrown, with her bangs in her eyes and the mullet thing on her neck was bugging her big time. She did not trust her mom or any of her other friends to cut her hair.

This is a great tool. Unfortunately, the comb teeth are very far apart, so the hair falls out easily. This is problematic for someone cutting their own hair with clippers in a mirror. Any chance you'll be making one for fine hair?

I got my hair wet. Wrote quick version out. Started working on it. Got husband to operate scissors. Next time have him watch video. Not identical to her cut but not bad. No longer a smurf. 4999 more haircuts and he has another profession....Also since the trickiest for me was the back plan to do a 6 on trimmer and shorter at edges or neckline. Figure that might be helpful to others.

I wish there would be a video with verbal instructions instead of the music. For instance, how do you change the comb length? Do you hold it at an angle, etc. More on sections? I'm ordering one and will leave a review on Amazon. Wish I'd found it sooner, I already ordered expensive clippers. If it works, I'll be thrilled. I'll try this first, but if it doesn't work will try a pixie with the clippers.

I just bought my CombPal from Amazon. Even though toilet paper ordered won't get here until June, this CombPal came very quickly and didn't cost much. I haven't used it yet but plan to today. I'll let you know how it turns out. I only bought it because my Flowbee broke down and the company is abiding the COVID19 suggestions so I can't get the part replaced until they get back to work.
