Yes, I agree with this because I made this mistake. Told my family I saved an emergency fund and encouraged them to do the same. Now they asking to borrow money because they know I have it. I told them no but I wish I had never mentioned it.

3 things you can say to a sponge/borrower. 1) Sorry, I live on a very strict budget. 2) I was just going to call and ask you for $20, Ah darn. 3) Sorry, but I have strict guidelines, I do not loan or borrow. Of course they will be a bit angry about #3, but that's the point, because once you open that door to loan money you will be turned into an ATM machine. # 3 is your best bet.

There is only 1 way to handle someone who asks you for money and that is to say NO! They will ask again and you keep saying NO! They will make up lies to get the money and you just keep saying NO! They will become abusive, they will play the victim, they will blame the victim ( you) and you just keep saying NO! Never ever feel guilty because if you give these low lives the money you will NEVER GET IT BACK. In summary the key word is, you guessed it, NO!

Thank you for this. I've got a colleague with a crisis EVERY dang month, reached the end of my rope when she called me 6 times in 4 minutes. We in the same position make the same money and work for the same company so best believe, she know when I'm getting paid. She pays back every time... Eventually but I just don't wanna do it no more. Gonna try out your suggestion and get something out of it besides the inconvenience.

Similar position myself with a coworker, but I gave him some charity money a while back (no small amount) wants more. Nope. Other coworkers want to strangle him as he wants to borrow hundreds to a couple grand a month. Sine he has such troubles (even if true, self imposed poorly chosen family problems) he can't (I'm sure he will never) pay back to a much later time. Somebody who ALWAYS has to borrow from being in "dire straits" aint paying anybody back ever

When it comes to money always do things in writing. There is a reason why banks don’t give loans to anybody. Money does not grow on trees. We all want to help out families and everything but in the end no one it’s going to come and save you when you need them. You have to be ruthless sometimes people are going to turn your back on you instantly when you help them. They have to learn to take responsibility for their mistakes.

This crap is happening to me. Had to cut off a few people. Now a woman i was friends with back in high school hits me up. She only use to hit me up to ask for money, sure she is a mother now and has a kid, but why must I support a child thats not mine? I started ignoring whenever she'd ask "Hey, can you do me a favor?" She noticed i wasn't taking the bait. So she started talking to me more so she could butter me up and rekindle whatever friendship we had. Now she's asking again. Im done.

I was talking to an old classmate about my engagement and how we are planning the wedding. I mentioned how much it might cost me. Literally that same weekend he's asking me if he can borrow $20. I guess he assumed I have a lot of money laying around which pisses me off bc I have money bc it was worked for and I don't spend it on bullshit. I already have a family member that is always on my back asking me for money and I cut him off. So basically I cut off one person and another one came along. Smh and they make you feel like shit for not helping them out but they spend their cash on drugs and booze. -_-

In my experience once you give someone money to borrow they either give it back or avoid you and I rather them avoid contacting me because it keeps them from asking for any more money. You just paid that person to never bother you again about money.

Best thing to do is to cut them off and count it as a loss. Most people will not try to work for it after they got it so easily for free. They will continue to be a leech and will just go beg the next sucker that they can find for money. Assumimg that these are able bodied adults....If they had any work ethic, had any know how as to how to acquire money or had good interpersonal skills or a spirit of reciprocity they wouldn't be in the situation of constantly begging and looking for loans from people.

I have ONE policy! I DO NOT loan $ and I DO NOT borrow....PERIOD! If the moocher is ever confused I refer them to Rule #1.....I DO NOT loan $. If the moocher is hungry, I fix them a sandwich etc. in a "to go bag" and send them on their way. It works like a charm every time. Please give it a try, I guarantee this wont work if you don't do it.

She sent a text to me this morning "needing" more. She is working part time and gets social security, but it never seems to be enough. I have never minded helping her out, but it's been going on for years now and it was easier when I was working, but now I have no income of my own so she expects me to ask my husband.

I gave her money for that and she asked for money for groceries gave her that. She asked for money for rent I TOLD HER NO you have to work for that and I told her I cant keep doin this. Some Christians I know are more needy than my worldly friends! They always need help. Even though their faith seems strong & they read the Bible often. They always hurtin & need help. They always sick, always need Meal Train, always need money…they always need a ride & when I give them a ride they ask to go to multiple places & even try to get me to buy them stuff. And they still the same after the years I’ve known them! So yes, even in the church there are people like this. @@MissionaryInMexico lol, I gave a homeless dude $5 today, then he offered me some peanuts that he took out the plastic bag with his bare hands lol I was like no thanks I'm allergic, sorry don't know why I'm telling you this but it was funny! I think he deserved it here in Canada it is very cold today and he stood outside with a coffee cup but he was quiet he wasn't badgering me. In times like that im glad to give! But those peanuts with his hands lol

They are colleagues to me. It’s like all three of them take turns. I once borrowed one and she always promised to pay back. But I got smart and told her my contract is ending and am gonna need my money back. That’s when I got my money back. Can you believe. The woman taught me something. Never to lend any of them money. So I always say I don’t have money. Even though they say they have an emergency. The sad part is that my family hardly borrow money from me. I have never borrowed money from anyone outside my family and like I said that hardly happens. The people got to know that nobody is coming to rescue them. They must figure it out without borrowing from other people all the time.

I just came back from a field trip for my middle school and my fellow classmate ran up to me and saw I had money in my hand when I was in one of the stores to buy snacks. She kept asking me for money and I told her “I’m sorry I don’t have enough money to buy you anything. I only have enough to buy 1 thing.” She kept whining and complaining that I wasn’t giving her any money to buy a snack. It was the most uncomfortable situation for me because she has a history of being very rude to me and I’m not going to go into detail cause it just makes me sick :(. Before she even asked me for money I had already given her 5 bucks which she lOST. I would be okay giving her money if we were cool and I knew her.

I been friends with someone for over 10 years. Before she was diagnosed with cancer, she used to ask all of us for money a lot. I remember one day she had each one of us an hour job by her lunch. And the sad thing about it is she has a husband that works. She is now diagnosed with cancer now which I pray for her. But I am a single mom and my money is accounted for. I helped her out a few times but now it’s making me resent her a little bit because area so often wear her husband doesn’t have enough money she will come to me. Mind you she has a son that’s over 30 years old and a husband she’s been married to for over 20 years. I went on ahead and gave it to her this time and told her she don’t have to pay it back but little does she know that this is the last time I’m going to do it. Because inflation is real and plus I have a 14-year-old son and I have to raise.

I have a guy at work begging for money all the time. Not just 20 bucks every week, but three and now four figures as of late. I originally believed him (seemed to have legit reasons) but the pile of dead relatives was growing ridiculous as well as truly low and obnoxious ways to try and scam hundreds to thousands of dollars from fellow coworkers who are making the same survival level money as him

One day I was at work with a fellow cashier and she was all nice and stuff. Then she seemed like she needed something and asked me “Can i borrow five dollars?” At first is as gonna day no but she seemed like she was In need because she said she needed money to catch a ride home. So I didn’t mind. And then another time the same cashier texted me asking me if I had seven dollars and I said no sorry. You need to stand your ground when people try to take advantage of you. She never asked me for anything again. But how tf are you broke and a cashier? She must of thought I was Bank of America.

Great video sir! I've been dealing with this problem a lot just this year alone (2018), and plenty of times before that. I'm not a rich, semi-rich or even don't even have an average amount of cash yet I still get begged for money repeatedly from people I know and don't know. I wish some people would stop treating me as an ATM. I typically give money to those in poverty (send check to donation centers to help those in 3rd world countries) and to those who have made me happy in my life without asking for money that's usually friends and relatives, but I even give to associates now.

2 Saturdays ago I was standing at this bus stop across from Gas Station and I see this guy in a undershirt walks up to me gives me a hand shake asks me for money to buy nourishment for his daughter but then I notice the joint in his hand that raised the red flag so I told him I dont have spare change and so he walked off and as he was walking off he crossed the street without waiting for the walk light and I was like this guy crazy... Fuck these swindlers out here trying to put you in a spot making you feel guilt for declining them...
