I feel you, I got rejected from 5/7 programs, including my first choice program, and got every email this morning. Really blindsided me. We’re gonna be ok though :) feel when you gotta feel, because holy hell this sucks and I’ve spent most of today crying it out, but then learn from it and move forward you know? We got this, even if it doesn’t feel like it at this moment we got this :)

I was just rejected by my prospective supervisor for a PhD. I’m totally crushed. I haven’t felt this insignificant in years. The knowledge that there is a gate keeper, and I know their name and their decades of incredible work, and they deem me to be unfit is just such a psychic blow I haven’t been able to function. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day.

I just got my first Ph.D. rejection and the fact that it is from my current school, where I'm wrapping up a master's program makes the hurt, pain, and disappointment unbearable. My optimism for the other programs has dropped significantly. Just thinking "If the home base does not want me, why would other programs?". I know I will be okay but I am currently crying my eyes out and binge-watching youtube videos on grad application rejections.

I got my last rejection letter today. No interviews, no waitlist, nothing. I’m graduating with my undergraduate in the spring so it upsets me I won’t be starting school up again later in the fall. It almost feels very personal like I myself was being rejected. But the people were just reading a few documents from me, so there’s no way that it truly was personal.

Passed masters in 2019,finished with proposal but unable to secure funding.Rejected from a funder, 20 Phd positions applied, called for one interview, no results yet.Uenemployed.Totally lost at 24! But not giving up.

I reached the final stage and the interview went well. I got a mail today saying they offered the position to another candidate. I am so mad. I had spent so much time preparing for the interview and the presentation. I think they rejected me since I did not have teaching experience. Ugh!

Professor, could you speak about choosing between different school. Is it okay to pursue your dream school or just take a “good enough” PhD offer when you get it? I was not able to apply to my top choice as they suspended admissions due to covid this cycle
