Back in the 70's my graduating thesis for my Environmental Design degree was, "Japanese Versus Scandinavian Influences", which included a slide presentation as well. My teacher was so impressed, she asked if she could use it in the future for her classes. I wasn't aware of any "Japandi" design style at the time. Who knows, maybe I ushered in the trend! Me and my fiancé always talked about combining the Scandinavian and Japanese style together I love this concept. I am half Scandinavian from Iceland and he is Japanese Polynesian. We both share the love of minimalism and I am very excited to put this concept into the apartment we just moved into. I think also Ikea is a great store to check out for this style too :)

Polynesian would go nicely in the mix, I would think. Natural colours and textures, and the woven grasses etc.. 😁😁👍

@Soa Lena Tjøstheim Eide That's geographically definitely true. Though worth to mention here, when talking about Scandinavian Design, Finland & Iceland have arguably had even more influence on the Scandinavian design modernism movement than some of the actual - geographically - Scandinavian countries.

This Scandi has always thought that Japanese interior design looked so much like what I know from home. I sometimes (more often than I would like to admit tbh...) have trouble telling wether a room is Japanese or Scandinavian. A lot of Danish design is very popular in Japan and if you know what to look for you can spot Danish pieces in almost every Japanese room tour! It’s fun how more or less the same idea can originate in very different cultures located so far from each other. Side note: I also see a lot of “home” in quite a lot of Korean interior pictures/videos - I’m not sure if it’s because Japanese/Scandinavian decor is popular there though or if it’s yet another similar style of its own.

I love that, too. Ultimately, no one can claim an idea as their own. All ideas belong to Inspiration.

It shows that you really put a lot of thought and effort into making them. Also, your way of breaking down the styles, giving thorough proof and explanations, and even more your passion for home decor is inspiring! 😊 As long as you keep uploading, I'll keep watching. It is so refreshing to see a video that not only conveys a sense of style but also captures all the elements for simple living. We are in the process of moving from our current home and looking for other options in creating a home with less clutter. I have alway been a fan of minimal living but have to also incorporate the love of a cozy home for my husband. It will be a new chapter and keeping my fingers crossed that we will find something that we will both enjoy together. I look forward to seeing more of your videos and will share your ideas with him.
