I have said this in previous comments, I hope you both realize what a positive influence you have on the prim life style. It is never too late to start a new life style. Stay young at heart. I believe that history has taught us that our forefathers were "make do people". If what they needed was not available, they managed to make do with a substitution. We are guardians of a life style of history and we must take this obligation seriously. The A team 2x in 1 day? How did we get so fortunate? Blessings ladies and thanks.

I'm 32 and gradually building my collection. My mother decorates her home so beautifully with primitive decor and it's so warm and cozy, and I want that for my home. Thank you for the video!

Watching you two has truly inspired me. I can't afford to buy antique hooked rugs or needlework samplers but I have begun creating these types of textiles myself. Now not only hooked on prim decorating but now am obsessed with rug hooking and cross stitch. My husband is an enabler and keeps me in supplies driving me for hours to buy wool or floss. Thanks for the inspiration!!!

I love you two! Thanks for sharing your love for antiques and history. I just read a prim sign that said, “Primitives - To them….they were necessities, to us….they are heritage.” That’s how I feel about all my piece’s, they’re a reminder of where I came from and they make me appreciate modern conveniences. It’s also a way to honor and remember our ancestors, IMO. ❤

Watching you two feels like sitting down with good friends and having a wonderful visit! Plus what super information. I live in the Pacific NW and have no friends that even understand my love of primptives. The closest shop sort of like Lainies is in Portland, at least 3hours one way from me . I rely on videos like this to keep me connected and happy! Thank you so very much to you both!!!!!

Amen Alice! I couldn’t live with those dark rooms. I appreciate it. Takes a lot of effort, but I prefer the the light walls with painted moldings. My husband claims that I could sell a room of furniture and an hour later it’s refurnished! It’s a gift. 😉

Alice is funny. Is it okay to say it was an obsession! Alice made a statement that really could keep the prim style going. Recycling is a great way to do it. People are trying to not throw away as much. There's always going to be those who have it in their blood. They really, truly love it and pass it on. Thanks for filming the visit. Still love your hair Alice. Looks like one I'd like to try. Thank you Alice for sharing your ideas. ❤

My story was selling the dressier things and going prim. We did what you did and collected then had a shop in our house for a short period. Mainly to thin out and have money to buy things we wanted. I'm a widow now and still friends with three of my dealer/collector friends. I'm in Northern Ill. and there seems to be no one who has prims like I live with. I'd call it mid 1800's country style and I love what I've collected, live in an 1896 . Handmade, simple painted pieces.

These are such great tips!! I'd have no idea where to start and when I heard start by painting the trim, baseboards and doors and paint the walls neutral I thought omg!! That is brilliant..."After that add some drieds and naturals, tin,wood...and if you're willing to go minimal and get rid of everything, start with a couple of pieces and build on that"---this makes so much sense! Getting started is prob the hardest part but using this "map" points a person in the right direction..thanks for this video!!. There are so many good tips!!!

I enjoyed your conversation so much! Thank you. As someone interested in American history and the primitive style, but who is also very English in my roots and style, I see a great deal of happy similarities. As of course there would be. I am attracted to the primitive style because I love well-loved wood furniture, earth tones, simple and useful objects, collections of old textiles and books. I am grateful to you for sharing your insights and agree the most important thing is to go with what makes you happy. I think concentrating on a few heartfelt collections is better than having a little of everything, especially if, like me, you live in a very small space. I am soon to move home, so am not only sorting out my possessions but also quickly painting a few pieces so that when I get to my new place they are ready to start their new lives:)

I have liked old things since i was in my mid 20's ... then in last few yrs when found Ann on utube I really started loving the primitive look. My home is a mixture of things, but since watching Ann I started looking for prim things & hitting quite a few thrift stores & yd sales. We had just moved right before I found Ann on utube --- so I have been trying to get into a primitive look. To my surprize I even found enough PRIMITIVE wall paper border for our living room --- later found enough prim. wallpaper paper border at a thrift store for the 2 large rooms in our basement! I was so excited. Thankyou Ann to you & all your friends on your utube shows.

Dear Anne, i got into Prim because I do Living History Re-enactment camping. As I studied the acquisition of camp furniture I realized I was falling in love eith the furnishings of 1750-1840. I decided that I wanted to live it all year long, not just on the weekends. This video is so informative, thank you ladies for the information. Hugs💞

Thank you both so much! This video was very informative and helpful. I just really started transitioning my home from Tuscan style to prim-country early this year. I’ve always loved prim and I’m going back to my roots with my decorating. I recently started a booth and I absolutely love getting to talk with the vendors who have been doing this for years and they are so helpful. And yep I’ve been collecting all different kinds of old stuff too😊I was over the moon excited to find a hogshead tobacco barrel from 1875 at a country store a few weeks ago!! I love it. I like the advice of focusing on one room at a time, it does feel overwhelming sometimes. Especially when I’m trying to share content and I don’t want my decor to look like I got a lot of styles combined 😂Thanks so much I truly enjoyed ❤

Hi Alice and Ann, I am new to your channel and new to primitive I have always loved antiques and old rustic things. We put one wall in our living room with pallet boards that i stained in 5 different shades and left some natural, I am wondering if that is in any way part of primitive style?? I love it so much I cant imagine taking it down. But I am so drawn to primitive style. We built a ranch home in 1992 and I am ready to make some changes. I am disabled so I can not do a lot but my husband is a carpenter and use to make cabinets, he is a jack of all trades. I am so excited about this. Your video felt like you were talking to me! Thank you so much. What colors would the linoleum painted pieces be colored? That sounds like something I could try in my dining room. We have all oak floors and cherry in our bedroom. We have one braided rug in our living room. I have the 90;s style oak cabinets, what color would be most common? I guess I have lots of research to do. My husband is not excited about painting oak....I said well is it cheaper than buying wood and making new doors?? Although A flat panel door would be pretty easy! Thanks girls. It is 2 AM I do not think I will sleep much tonight, I am going to be binging your video's. Blessings ~~ Your new friend in Pennsylvania, Sandie
