When I’m working on a large decoupage piece like this one, I usually take a photo of it as I find looking at a photo I can see anything that’s not right much easier. My old high school art teacher’s tip.

Hello from Quebec, Canada! I just found your video tonight. I was hoping to find someone that could explain, step by step, how to put fabric on a dresser and you are the winner for sure! I am sanding a dresser right now, and wish to do something similar to yours using fabric that I really love. Thank you so much for this fabulous tutorial.

I did that this morning....my builders broke a huge wood chandelier that was hanging in the garage when we purchased the house. I said to them when they were taking it down please dont break it because I have an idea for it. Of course they broke 3 of the arms on one side. So I ordered some mitre glue (just like the old super glue) and fixed it and then I spray painted it 4 times with white paint (it was an ugly gold. This morning I thought I am going to add some colour with acrylic paints i have...totally cocked it up with the acrylic paints and had to respray it with white...so back to the drawing board because i want to add in some decoupage and now I just dont know! Just to say that I love the piece its beautiful....love the blue my favourite colour and it looks amazing like a beautiful semi precious stone!

Beauuutiful!! I love the fabric so much! And the paint job - fantastic! I appreciate that you pay attention to all the little details throughout the project. It’s those details that make for a quality piece in the end. Doesn’t spoonflower have such great options?! I’ve shopped on their website in the past. It’s incredible the designs you can find. I’m not usually a fan of long, wordy, KZfaq videos, but this is definitely an exception. Loads of valuable tips.. you think of everything. I started a piece of furniture today - decoupaging fabric to it and had a little trouble with bubbles. One video showed them using sandpaper after the first coat. I’m a bit hesitant to do that after only one coat. I think I’ll just add more coats before the final poly… Thank you so much for the lesson! Now on to see what else you’ve got. I’m thinking I might have to subscribe. ✌️😊
@TanglewoodSue
@TanglewoodSue 2 жыл бұрын
Wow. What a lovely comment. I’m so glad we are connected. If you are using fabric and have bubbles try to heat it a little bit and use a creditcard to push them out. If you can’t ouch them out push them in to flatten them. I would not sand as that may damage the fabric. Hope that helps and start for watching!
@jazzmoos5382
@jazzmoos5382 2 жыл бұрын
@@TanglewoodSue wow took me 3 weeks to get notification of your comment. Thank you so much for your input! I never thought of heating it. I’ll keep that in mind. I did push air out with a rolling pin and also tried a card, but the mod podge seemed intent on bubbling on the surface. I did find more info online about sanding in between coats, using 400 grit, but it was SO fine that it did basically nothing. Plus, like you mentioned, I was probably afraid of scratching the fabric. Since then I’ve realized that my new bottle of mod podge was just too think. Now I water it down and spread thinner coats and the bubbling seems to be FAR more manageable. I know you can’t get to every question or comment, but I hope you know - I think your attitude and creative sense are infectious! Thank you for what you do! ✌️

of course I chose a complicated pattern cause I never make anything easy on myself but the process is really forgiving. I promise :)

Oh my goodness! Soooo gorgeous. Thank you for the tutorial! I haven’t used fabric to decoupage yet. I did find a hardwood dresser, and once it gets out of the car (genie needed), I’m going to try this! Thank you! Question: it using fabric like using paper, should we always paint the surface white first? Thanks again!

In my opinion it’s easier. It had give and won’t rip. It’s only harder because it can stretch too much and distort your image if you are not careful. I always paint white so the image pops but it’s not absolutely necessary. Hope that helps and thanks so much for watching!

Thank you for correcting all the "modge podge" mispronouncing!!! That drives me nuts too!! Lol I love the fabric decopauge. Sooo much easier than paper! Love your fun personality also. :)

Once you fill the other hardware hole, what do you use to cover it? Just curious how it would work into the colors and not stick out. Amazing work ❤

New to your channel and LOVE this…can’t wait to try it myself. Quick question, if you were decoupaging paper would you use the tacky spray underneath like with fabric?
@TanglewoodSue
@TanglewoodSue 4 ай бұрын
No. I use something slippery underneath so you can move it around till you get it in the right place. Mod podge works or any of my topcoats :)

Love this!! What a beautiful option. But if I try this and mess it up, any idea how to remove it?

Wow. I'm so subscribing. I'm attempting to redecorate my small living room. It's a nightmare. Walls that go straight up from the floor to the ceiling are rare in my small apt. Everything is at an angle. Anyway, my drawer is painted over in a glossy white colour (yuck). Can I still do decoupage over that or do I need to (yikes) sand the whole thing?

Not at all. Use first step prep from my website to degloss it. That will be enough. :). Sounds fun. Keep me posted!!

Thank you so much! I made this about 20 years ago so it may longer be offered I’m afraid. I would search for agate. You can find my shop here: www.tanglewoodworks.com
