I have tried cleaning my citric fruit scale contaminated auger/filter/ front end housing for my Oscar Neo juicer with abrasives, bleach, vinegar, hot water and detergent and elbow grease for the last 4 years with limited success . Tried soaking the washable parts with (Napisan Vanish Oxyaction) overnight (4 scoops in a 2 litre container of warm water) and what a relief as all the scale virtually fell off after several hours of immersion and a gentle brush to remove the last bits. Saved me $160 for a new accessory attachment and the cleaned parts are like new. Thanks John you insight was terrific.

I have used OxyClean for so many different cleaning applications (including stains on patio paving) with good results. I don't know why I didn't think of using to clean my Omega grinding parts. Thanks John. I owe you one.

WOW!!! Turmeric root sticks like a monster on the auger of my Omega 8400. You can wash it off with the brush but it all doesn't come off with the brush...went to Target...got some Oxi Clean...BOOM!!! Comes right off after an hour soak. Nice!!!! I just cleaned up my old stained Jack LaLane juicer that has been on the shelf since I got my Omega. Looks brand new now!!!!

Thanks so much! I bought a used Juicer. It was stained much worse than I thought. It happens to be the same as the Juicer you used to demonstrate the cleaning. What luck! The parts are soaking as I write this. You saved me hours of work.

hey john i'm STILL ENJOYING THE SLOW STARE I BOUGHT FROM YOU IN 2013.! one of the best purchases i ever made...i've been battling stains and clogs with my juicer screen for years. it's just part of the gig. i wash it well but over time it gets yukie. i tried baking soda and vinegar and various cleaners with minimal at best results. so i soaked it over night last night in a food storage container with a small palm full of "cascade" dishwasher detergent. it was amazing!!! there was a little rubbing and a scrub or 2 with a brush in a few areas but it looks like new! tribest slow star so the screens are not inexpensive. so a hand full of cascade saved me $32!!! now, i just heard about this hack from a friend who doesn't juice but knows how things get clean. here i find you've been doing cascade for 3 years. as eric chang said " would you consider making an updated video about deep cleaning our juicers?" for those of us that stick with juicing as part of a dietary lifestyle, this level of cleaning is a big deal. you are the E F Hutton of juicing. when you speak people listen. i don't own stock in who ever make cascade, but if you start talkin' about it, i'm gonna get buy some. this hack should be as common knowledge as how to brush our teeth. (thx in advance for you efforts)

Hi John!! Someone gave me an old Champion, and the crud was unbelievable!!! The oxyclean worked great! The auger and holder needed 48h to get off. Good like new! These juicers never die. Like you said, the Omega 8000 is the easiest to clean. I have a Greenstar too, and it’s a great juicer but a pain to clean.

A friend came to a pot-luck at my house a few days ago, and left a 12-pack of Coca Cola in my kitchen... I wouldn't drink the stuff if you paid me to, so I was wondering what to do with it... I'd heard it was good for cleaning, so I tried soaking my Omega Juicer parts in it. The dark brown parts have a weird hard white residue on them (which I've read is hard water residue) that wouldn't scrub off... I'd tried baking soda and vinegar and other cleaners with no results. So... yay... I soaked the juicer parts for 48 hours in pure, undiluted coca cola... after soaking in coke, I was able to scrub the crud off.

intriguing.. if only I could find a friend who'd be willing to bring over some coke so I don't have to buy it...

Any cleaners/harsh chemicals may damage the juicer. Please do this at your own risk. In general, I do a deep cleaning maybe once a month, if that... Sometimes less. I had one customer that used lemon juice and baking soda to clean their juicer, which may be a better solution.

I deep cleaned my Hurom vertical juicer with Oxyclean. It removed most of the stains on the plastic parts & left a replacement 2nd generation metal juicing screen clean & shiny as new, after a overnight soaking. A longer soak would have been better. A previous overnight soak with Sodium hydroxide bleach got the plastic parts cleaner but ate the metal surface of my 1st generation juicing screen turning it rough, gray & easier to stain. My 1st generation screen cracked & was replaced.

I just did this, but only soaked for about 5 hours. It cleaned 90% of everything. If I would have soaked for 48 hours it probably would have cleaned everything. One other thing I noticed if anyone does this, is your sink will get mega clean. It looks like a brand new sink 😀

I tried this on my Omega 350HD and it looks like new! Thanks for the tip about where to get OxiClean (or equivalent) for less. Now that I see how well it works, I'll get the big container. Have you tried this on a Blendtec jar? Mine is looking cloudy and dark.

lemon juice + baking soda sounds like a good idea too, or one of those enzyme cleaners made from fermented oranges, because it eats food.

I have the Omega VRT juicer, I have a residue that is built up on my juicer, I do not like this, I can scrape it off with my fingernail but nothing else seems to work. I rinse out the juicer immediately after use, every time. Is there anything I can do to get this residue off?? PLEASE HELP!!!

My machine isn't stained per se, but the plastic on the casing is turning yellow, kind of like old CRT monitor's used to do. What's weird is it's only the main body that's yellowing, not the parts that are attached. Any suggestions?

Use a paint brush, cut short with scissors for getting around the motor section. and a hand pump water spray gun, about 4 dollars, to spray /swill out around the gears.

Hi John, I saw your video and used the Oxiclean to deepclean my Omega 350HD. It did a great job cleaning but now the black top has turned grey and spotted. It only looks black again when it is wet. Is there any way that you know of or a product I can add to it to make it look black again? Thanks.

I would soak overnight and try cleaning, if it does not clean up fairly easily wash off what will come off then soak it again overnight. If you want to soak for 48 hours it is sure to clean up easily.

Love your videos John! Thanks so much for all the educational content. By the way, I do agree with your followers that the OXI clean is rather full of chemicals to clean a juicer with. Have you tried white vinegar? I actually use Allen's double strength vinegar and I soak the parts overnight in a vinegar-water solution (using hot tap water to start) and it works well. You can get the Allen's double strength vinegar on amazon here, Walmart or another similar store: amzn.to/3k0VkaD

I let mine soak in white vinegar for two days, completely covered - did almost nothing. This may work if you do it once a week from the beginning, but when it gets really stained, it's ineffective.

not sure about chemicals , but i found that a paint brush cut quite short with a pair of scissors gets in nice around the motor and other parts that the supplied brush does not touch. also a hand pump pressure spray gun to swill around the motor after a brush. Did you find anything for soaking the gears?

I have bought 10 used juicers of different brands (I like to buy household gadgets at yard sales, what can I say). My favorite method of cleaning as Jon says, is to soak overnight in Cascade dishwasher detergent and hot water, I use 2 pods in a sink of water, then scrub with a nylon brush, microfiber wash cloth. But NEVER will I use an SOS pad steel wool or metal brush on plastic. The reason is once you scratch the plastic the scratches hold the dirt and make it harder to clean next time. I may scrub and clean, if the dirt is not loosened up I will clean off what will come off then soak for another 24 hours. I will get in little cracks with a toothpick and keep going till every part is clean as new. No kidding you can make an old juicer like brand new. It does take some work but when you start with a clean juicer everyday cleanup is a lot easier. When I get done juicing I will use a rubber spatula to clean off pulp into the pulp bin, then soak the parts in hot water and dish soap while I enjoy my glass of juice then give it a good scrub with a nylon brush and wash cloth and it is good as new.
