Don't discard the strings/silk/whatever-you-want-to-call-it from the inside of the pumpkin, either! It goes great in vegetable broth. Also, the skin can be fried into chips. So, really, the only parts of a pumpkin that can't be eaten are the stem, and that weird butthole thing on the bottom. XD

ABSOLUTELY AND A DEWORMER FOR A DOG

I want to keep it on hand for if the dogs get sick. I make a pumpkin pruee to make soup for the dogs that helps them 99% of the time. Great while you wait for your vet appointment. Then just cancel the appointment if they get better. I make the soup a little different depending on the issue but it helps with mild dehydration from throwing up, helps with vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and a blockage.

Will this help humans, too? If so, how would you recommend prepping for human consumption?
@carebear5343
@carebear5343 Жыл бұрын
@@chickchoc It would depend on the tummy issues. I love to make a nice pumpkin bread 🍞 with wheat flour. That helps me when I feel sick. I add more salt if I am nauseous. I add extra pumpkin and wheat flour if I have diarrhea or constipation. Toast the bread and butter it. Then pair it with a tea or coffee depending on your stomach issue.

I just did this yesterday! I cut off the stem like you would to do a jack o lantern and scooped out the seeds. 12 minutes in my Ninja Foodi. Perfection. The step I skipped, which I shouldn't have, was to puree it after that. I just mashed it straight to the trays and my blender didn't crush it into a very fine powder. They are still some very hard chunks. The uncooked ones I did (peeled then shredded) blended a bit better I think.

Buy an offset spatula. It will make smoothing leathers evenly so much easier!

I roasted a pumpkin once the way you did and then I found somebody doing it in the oven cooking bags and I have never looked back. They are amazing, the rind say soft so you can actually puree it as well.

Whatever way works for you. I don't use them because I personally choose not to cook in plastic. I'll be using the Instant Pot on my next batch and will probably be able to do the whole thing for the same reason.

Glad it was helpful! Remember - I can't remember if I said it in the video or not lol - the leaves are edible, too - make green powder from them! Younger leaves work best before they get all hairy

You did not say it. The leaves are edible? Never heard of it. Are they worth the trouble or do they taste like shit? :)
