I watched this video for the first time when I was nine years old. It's safe to say I still love lighting and electrical. 9 years later. This video really inspired me.

Ron, You came through for me again. I am installing for the first time landscape lighting for a customer. Of course I want to do it right and you have explained it clearly unlike all the other videos I have watched. I have always liked the way you talk slowly, don't use Trade Terms and watching your videos gives me confidence in learning to do it myself. I want to get good at this so that I can include this skill into my Handyman Menu of services. There is a great opportunity for up charging for the materials which as you have displayed can be rather pricy! Thank you again. Jim's Got It Home Services, LLC

LED lights were a major upgrade and reduced the number of transponders needed and are so much brighter. The process for the most part is still the same.

Use wire nuts instead of the brass barrel and heat shrink for connections. Simpler, safer, easier.

Shouldn't you test them first before you bury them?
@aklighting8292

Not necessarily. When a light doesn't come on / doesn't work, it usually has to do with the connectors, which can easily be uprooted. But there definitely needs to be a finally check.

Dont forget to get your permit and hire a licensed electrician. In New Jersey anything over 10 volts require a license to work on. Its only a 4th degree felony and up to a $10,000.00 fine though if caught working without one. Good luck and happy lighting!

I just added two lights to my existing layout and now several bulbs are not turning on and others are dimmed. here is a link illustrating what I am talking about. Box is transformer 300 watts and the red line are the ones I added. photos.app.goo.gl/k3pCy3cQzaXqV8kt9 Any idea why this voltage drop is happening?

Where are the electrical pipes to encase the wire?????
@batbawls
@batbawls 8 жыл бұрын
+frank mead You don't need to encase the wires, but it would be good for longevity. It's low voltage and it's very easy to replace.
@TheGuitarShawn

I agree, when I do this myself, I'll probably take the extra time to do some conduit. I'd hate to go back again and fix because I didn't protect the wires.
@jc51373
@jc51373 6 жыл бұрын
Totally unnecessary. It's direct bury wire, you only use conduit for high voltage or any parts of the low voltage system exposed. e.g. transformer to ground. Waste of time and money to put LV into conduit. Do your homework before over doing something for the sake of over doing something.

Very dangerous installation. All cables should be protected in conduit. Through grass or any soil.
