Thank you for your videos! Can you use the Teflon iron sheet for regular HTV as well? And if so, do you still need the parchment paper between the Teflon sheet and the vinyl itself when you do the second pass to check for adhesion?

Hey there! We use protective Teflon sheets when pressing HTV along with other HTV materials, this makes sure that when pressing with your heat press or iron they are protected from possible damage. Very cool project! How does the foil stick to the words? I thought foil only interacts with toner? Is there something in the specific weed paper you used or can any vinyl be used?

Andrea, The heat transfer vinyl used with the foil is called adhesive. It is essentially what the back of heat transfer vinyl has on it that makes it adhere to garments. If you used regular HTV, it will only adhere around the edges where the glue would ooze a little bit. TRW Alexis

I watched a video of that a while back but I don't remember what video it was and I can't find it again. Hello! Can the easy weed application you're using in this video also be used on fabrics? Meaning applied to fabric then apply the magic foil on top like you did in the video. I just bought a cameo and haven't attempted a project nor have I even attempted to set it up. My daughter wants a shirt with a foil logo so I'm wondering if this is what I'd need.

Couple questions: 1.. What was the name of the two fonts you used on this project? 2. I did a wall deco plaque using the gold foil but had problems with some parts of the word the foil did not stick. I was very careful about the heat temperature and letting it cool before removing it. Any thoughts. 3. You selected Easy Weed on the Cameo 3 setting, auto blade @ 3 and my first run it would not cut, co I had to redo and I did a double cut. On the Silhouette Cameo 2 I had to select HTV Glitter to get the blade at 3. Is the Easy Weed only on the Cameo 3 and what would you use on the Cameo 2 setting? Thanks

I see a few things that you might want to try to avoid. Don’t smash the design with the iron and smash and slide the iron across the design. Lift and place the iron gently, you don’t have to smash it, you’re transferring a glue to the board. When the iron is too hot and leave it in a spot too long the glue begins to actually boil causing the bubbles. Also when applying the foil don’t just slap it on, place the foil so there aren’t any ripples or wrinkles before you iron. Again, when ironing the foil don’t smash and slide, it melts the glue and you’re literally smearing your design by pressing and sliding, Place, lift, move, place, don’t smear it, it’s not a panini.

Can you use a heat press & if so, what is the recommended heat setting & time?

Jennifer, It would be a little more difficult to use a heat press with the wood as it wouldn't be able to shut all of the way, that's why we recommend using an iron (if you're using a clam-shell anyways). You would press at around 280 degrees. Press the adhesive for 2-3 seconds, peel warm, press the foil on top for 10-15 seconds, peel cold. :) TRW Alexis

I notice the settings are different than what we use with our Cameo 2. We typically cut at Blade 2, Speed 8, Thickness 11. Is that because of the auto blade?

I wouldn't. Foils are made for garments and laundry soaps, and even that you need to hang dry them because the dryer is so aggressive the foil will start to dull / fade / flake a bit after several washes. So on wood etc, harsh cleaners would wreck it and possibly harm your adhesive used to apply it. What I would personally do is wood seal it. Then once it's safely encased, clean away! :-) -TRW Crystal

We do not use Oracle, we use FDC sign vinyl. Also, it's difficult to get Decal Vinyl to stick on a wood surface like in this video. TRW Alexis

Gwen, The top font is caferus normal found at the hungry jpeg. The script is called malesia script, you could do a Google search to find that one! TRW Alexis
