Trent's work with Atticus Ross has such a different feel to it compared to his work alone. It's not bad, it's just different. Slower, more menacing, more calculated, and just... foreboding. I can't describe it. I can only feel it.

Yes nice partner for sure. Finding a vocalist for their duo was a wonderful idea.
@parasiteunit2 жыл бұрын
There's often that modulation - the melodies and lyrics are VERY Trent, but there's definitely a different tone to the music. The percussion especially. In collabs I've done - it's that unknown "what's it going to be - what kind of precious little monster are we making?" the sum of the parts is often very different to what you think it's going to be.

This is Trent joining up with Atticus already heading in a direction to produce something at that period. So a lot of HTDA is finished off by them all as a group of artists, but initially started from Atticus's material or ideas instead of Trent's. But since then Trent has decided he is the other half of NIN, & they truly are a duo & team together in partnership of creative duties etc. I really love the last x3 NIN ep's. U can hear that they are on there path now with it all, & Trent is better for it now he feels & trusts NIN to the control of a partnership of interest & decisions for it. He had wrapped NIN up once again at the stage of HTDA... If it wasn't for working with Atticus's interests at the time, we may not still have more NIN now imo? He wasn't doing any music or production at all at this stage of life for 2-3yrs. & had started family life etc. I'm a producers myself, & Atticus is of the top electronic music programmers or producers u could be lucky enough to work with imo too. He, Flood & Alan Wilder of Depeche Mode legacies are 3 people with a special ear & craft of electronic music production especially

HTDA is fucking great. Still waiting on a new album. Love the textures, soundscapes and sound of their voices. Kind of like NIN's reserved older sibling, ha

Because music is not always about “complex riffs and constant changes”... some of the best music is minimal, subtle, and repetitive even... it all depends on the context and the style. Another great band for this reason is Seefeel.

Put on your headphones and listen to every detail. It is incredible. It does sound like NIN. Just relax and admire the song as it is. How many people know how to structure a song in this way? Trent is so talented...

for those of us who hunt in the world of pleasures and pain.. who live within our own mind and create the moments we feed on to sustain the the perpetual motion of the life we desire in the essence of power, lust,want and movement .. can only understand the chaotic dance of this song..
@horatiotrismegistus6169 жыл бұрын
Kilher Habibi Everyone hunts, some just don't recognize it. Everyone lives in their own mind, yet most humans don't *own* their _own_ mind... We feed on moments because we are slaves to time... But yes, the music is brilliant.

This vid is great. It looks like just rehearsal, but the nervous fear in Mariqueen's face at the end shows subtle visualization towards being unable to Keep It Together. Even Trent's face shows a feeling of uncertainty than it showed in any NIN video. Love this: track, vid & group.
