Over a period of days the gas in the lines will be replaced by air, even in new good lines. One gauge went to zero first because it was the primary tank feeding the gas lines (as indicated by the changeover regulator). Once the regulator is switched to the second tank, it will eventually go to zero as well. This is normal. An abnormal leak will show a drop in the gauge much more quickly, in a matter of minutes.
