The advice here is solid. I only just learnt how helpful it is to choose your pov carefully. Im rewriting from the character who has the most inner as well as outter journey, and the word count shows that this is much better than forcing a pov that should be a side. The other point of clear goals- when you have a strong goal for the character you can make things worse for them. I have heard this can cure writers block, because you as the writer want to see your characters get to the end, you want to see what happens next.

Good work. I would add if you know what kind of story you want to write it is easier to design the characters. If you want a librarian detective, for example, you will need to design the personality type with reasons why and how this MC became a librarian to explain the detective skills. The typical librarian won't make a good detective MC, so build one that is atypical but it must make story sense.

Hey just a quick question abt Reedsy as a writing platform itself-- I know Reedsy is typically aimed towards authors who want to get indie published, would someone looking to get traditionally published benefit from it too?

I'm writing a novel where I have a limited 3rd person POV. I switch POV between two characters. I kept the main character's POV narrative subjective, while I kept the other POV character's narrative objective. I know it is something different, but is it good? Or bad? It will be very helpful if you answer this question... Thank you!

I observed that the majority of fantasy novels even fantasy movies and TV shows out there are mainly based on ancient western world and cultures, specifically European Medieval era. I am attempting to create a Fantasy novel about my culture, The Igorot (one of the major indigenous group of the Philippines in the mountainous region of the Cordillera) culture. However, what's slowing me down is I find difficulty on incorporating as much Igorot Gods, Goddesses, Mythical entities, Magic systems, cultural practices and others that I can. Many does not fit in with my story. I revised my entire draft 7 times reducing magical characters and others from my culture that impedes the flow of my story and it is becoming a fantasy story with lots of tropes and clichés.

I wonder if it might be better to build a new story around whatever elements from your culture you want to include? That way, you can ensure those elements are baked into the central conflict and characters, rather than trying to force them into the story after the fact.

It pisses me off that people who barely have published anything go on to have their entire careers based around telling people how to write mediocre novels like theirs. Instead of focusing on making video ideas why don't you instead go develop your own writing idea.

What pisses me is that people waste their time (and mine) writing comments based on no knowledge, which will be of no help to anyone and which are gratuitously rude. If you don't have anything interesting going through your mind, just don't comment at all.
