When I was in Florida, two techs told me"low on freon" Still no cooling, a third came out and found out the txv was bad, replaced, all is well. No wonder in Fl. they call techs who just charge n go " freon jockeys"!

I tech commercial work. Most of it comes from contractors that have contracts guaranteeing service "very quickly" but few workers of value. If you wee on a job with me, I then would have two people on the job that could work one

That also could have been a liquid line restriction,instead of a bad TXV.They have the same symptoms.especially if someone has come and added refrigerant.

Unfortunately the units in my country only have a suction pressure service valve, you can't connect at the high side. Without being able to measure subcooling it is much harder for us and there are not many technicians who can actually troubleshoot. My guess is if my superheat is ok then the TXV should be fine.

If you changed the filter dryer with a good vacuum will resolve the issues, no need to blame txv, although issue is happening inside the txv, thank you!

What about actually doing the heating and cooling test on the TXV and watching the readings/pressure on the head unit drops when heated to open and rise when cooled to close off refrigerant to evaporator.

Travis did you ever do a video on that TXV mine keeps getting stuck on and off I got a quote that was astronomical to replace my TXV almost had a heart attack I live in Florida I have R22 in there now my guy tapped it it seems to mostly happen around 8:00 I was getting temperatures about 5657 coming out of the air vents last night it got warm and it was coming out at 66 but then the next day it was freezing I've got one great guy his name is Dave but he works for a rip-off company what is the actual cost reasonable to replace this

When you diagnosed the indoor TXB is being bad did you notice any ice buildup or frost anywhere off the Tubes on the indoor or outdoor unit after the TXV? I had a similar unit that the indoor TXV tubes off the valve were frosting up and never got to see the coil actually ice up.

I've had embarrassing moments where I went through the whole spill with customer on how its low on freon. Then recommend a leak search. Then it wont take any freon lol. I always check sc and sh before opening my mouth now

correction Freon is a Trademark Name if you will, The correct term is Refrigerant.

So I have had a issue for a month or so with my system sometimes cooling excellent and other times not worth a crap. Have had the company out 5 times. It’s a 410A system icp 2.5 ton. Yesterday he said the expansion valve was bad because the pressures were off, the superheat was not correct and that means this valve. System was installed in 2018. It has froze up the evaporator coils 3 times, runs all day and the temperature inside increases between 2 and 5 degrees - doesn’t seem to keep up - sometimes the air is really cool sometimes it’s not cool enough to call air conditioning. Does this sound like the valve problem is right to you?

I think I have a bad TXV. The HVAC repairmen cannot figure out what is wrong with my unit, and it has been having issues and randomly blowing warm all summer. After running for a while, might be several hours might be a whole day, the air keeps running but the cool air stops and my radiator coils on the inside unit are warm. If I turn the unit off for several hours, when I turn it on it is cooling again. Everytime the technicians come to diagnose, it happens to be during a time my unit is running cool. They keep making appointments for several days out, so I can't just keep it running warm for several days until they arrive, and whenever they have been here it has been while it was actually cooling. As a result they have no idea what is wrong with the unit, but I don't think they were able to test the TXV. Does that sound like it could be caused by a TXV closing up after hours of use and then opening back up when the system is off?

I have a lennox . I thought I was low on refrigerant. Checked the air handler and I had a leak on one of the capillary tubes coming off the txv. So I brazed it ,replaced the refrigerant and now all the tunes coming off my txv freeze and thaws repeatedly. The txv body doesn't freeze just the tube. Plus no cold air. So I'm thinking replacing the txv would solve this issue. Any ideas 💡 🤔

An hvac tech that calls refrigerant "freon", should be kicked off the job. That's hillbilly talk right there.

What if u have a new r410a unit with perfect pressures and sub cooling but only a 10 delta t doesn’t cool house if 80 or above outside was thinking the txv

I am Tech Support for those who sign commercial contracts of guarantee before they admit they've no horses of value in the barn. I see/pass on videos like yours a lot. I see too many repair people show up with almost no important skills, and if they cross my path again, one look at my notes and it's ob jobs they still have no important skills. Too bad. At some point, there isn't going to be enough qualified baby sitters to go around
