In this webinar, Jérôme Honnorat explained how he approaches the diagnoses of autoimmune encephalitis.
Pr Jérôme Honnorat is a neuro-oncologist with a particular interest in paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (PNS) and autoimmune encephalitis (AE). His main research is to describe the clinical specificities of AE and PNS and to identify new biomarkers of these diseases, leading to patents and close relationships with industrial companies developing diagnostic tests (see BETPSY website: www.rhu-betpsy.fr/). Jérôme Honnorat has conducted several research projectsin the field of PNS and AE, from fundamental studies on the role of the antigens in brain development and in synapse functioning, to translational studies to validate autoantibodies as diagnostic biomarkers and to understand the immune breakdown leading to these immune diseases, to clinical studies to describe the specificities of these patients at clinical biological and genetic level. After 30 years of work in this field, he has lead and participated in many different national and international programs and published several international guidelines on the subject.
