Thanks so much for this my guy. Been dealing with EAC due to it considering RGB as an issue, but this was a much better solution without having to mess around with my fans and RGB. Hopefully a patch comes out later that fixes the EAC and RGB conflict. Take care and be well!

Thank you so much. EAC was causing my game to hang. I ALT-F4'd and completely broke my game. Had to reinstall, and loaded in with your technique and the game runs amazingly well. THANK YOU

After I got the DLC the whole launch process would simply just stop after the EAC screen, and it kept happening even with work-arounds. This seems to work perfectly, bless you. (I looked at the mod, too, but the DLC seems to have broken it and it has yet to be updated, so this was easier for me, who never play online ever, anyway.)

View > Show > File name Extensions that will show the .exe

i try a lot but everytime i write the "start_protected_game" on a eldenring copy the new file become the original whit anticheat logo. someone can tell me why?

mine doesnt say .exe at the end. Just start_protected_game

would love an updated version of how to do this. they have since added a feature that when you launch the game no matter what it automatically downloads the anti cheat.

Did every step correct, the bear icon changed to paper, however the Elden ring icon didn’t, but it still loads anti cheat and I get application error

I don't know if giving yourself runes would mess with the system at all when you come back online but to be safe I jump off the ledge next to a site of grace before I log out and then pick them up when I'm back online

The file says "start_protected_game" and not "start_protected_game.exe". The steps didn't work because of that. Can you or someone help please?

Did anyone here try this and get substantially worse FPS than before? Before I was getting 40-60 FPS depending on the area with large stutters, but my GPU and CPU never max out. Low vs. Max settings and even dropping the resolution to the minimum do almost nothing to change the FPS; they just change the GPU usage. After trying this, I dropped down to a stuttery 20-30 FPS. So, I immediately reverted. It makes absolutely no sense to me that this should hurt FPS. Curious if there's an additional step I need to do, or what. Version 1.10. Edit: I see at least one other commenter had this experience, and there were a handful of likes on the comment so we're probably not the only ones. What a shame.

My "new anti cheat" didn't change for the bear icon but kept thed elden ring launcher icon, don't know why, but seems it works just fine anyway ... Thanks for the tip!

Does it matter if the files that i change are not .exe? the copy of elden ring does take the bear icon but the original anti cheat icon does not go away.

Fuck yeah this is worth it, RTX 3060 got usually between 48 and 52 FPS on Max, but now on max it's a stable 60 with probably quite some room to spare

thank you so much, I tryed starting it and it wouldn't launch. Now its super fast and won't interfere with mods. Maybe add that in order to rename a exe file you have to enable file endings.

Good suggestion. It does not work for every game though. Everyone keep that in mind. Some games just never start.

Didn't work, my anti cheat application keeps duplicating itself when I try to change it.

Its annoying cause i played the base game on ps5 and would rather play dlc on my pc but dont want to start from sratch so having things unlocked and levelled for dlc would be good and i dont really play vs online in elden ring but i like interacting with peoples notes and having the option to co op bosses but then again with mods probably wouldn't need any help haha

I still can't believe all this time and bamco hasn't fixed this issue yet.. with EAC 1080p 35...40fps, w/o it I can play 4k 70fps no problem, EAC is literally cancer for this game... I hate it and the fact we are forced to play offline because of it.

for some reason when I do this it messes with how my GPU reads this games and it maxes out at 780mhz clock speed and i get like 30fps. I have a 3090... When I revert it and put EAC back on it clocks back to normal levels 1860mhz. I dont understand what I need to do for my GPU to work normally with Elden Ring when EAC is disabled. I treid going into the control panel and changed power settings to max performance, I tried graphics settings in windows to maximize performance for elden ring. Nothing worked. And the weirdest thing is in Nvidia control panel, the start_protected_game is called "Sniper Elite 5 Launcher". I have never had sniper elite 5 on my system. Weird thigns happening when I disabled EAC

Sad to say this doesn't help me at all. I have tried every single thing on the internet but my game continues to crash and I have no idea why. I know this isn't a video about Elden Ring crashing but I am starting to loose out on hope of ever playing the game and am looking at every source of Elden Ring help I can. If anyone could help I would really appreciate it. Played over 100 hours on another PC and when I got my new laptop the game would crash either on the loading screen after I click continue or load game or would freeze and crash the sec I get into the game. I would like to clarify that I have already tried all the common and repeated things that everyone keeps saying like verify files, reinstall, driver update, fullscreen-borderless, epic games and overlay. I'm getting very frustrated here. Using a Lenovo Y740 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz 16GB of RAM and 2080 Max Q (Windows 11) if my device specifications are needed.

Make sure to have enabled : View/file name extensions

So did everything you said, and it worked. Anti-cheat is disabled and all, but whenever I try and open the game up, it shows me a white screen then proceeds to close instantly. Any tips on how to fix this recurring issue?

i did this but i didn't work, the file name i ave it just "start_protected_game" no exe or anything and when i did make the edits it did nothing

None of this works anymore. Alls I get is "inappropriate activity detected" and then, corrupted save. Even after deleting the Appfolder for Eldenring and turning off cloud, it still persists.

Hi, is it possible to play the multiplayer without anticheat? My GPU does not support DX feature level 12+ so I am not able play the Elden Ring with anticheat... only without it with some specific dx.dll files
