Imagine… disconnecting a speaker but wondering why the car doesn’t make any sounds anymore 😂.

maybe you could purchase one of those three pin relays(active low types), hook the on/off signal pin to your reverse lights, and splice the power line for the speaker+connect it to the other two pins. That way whenever the reverse light is on, the speaker will turn off. You wont be able to use the mic or anything when in reverse, but it seems better than not being able to use it at all while still getting rid of that ufo sound.

I love the Tesla reverse noise and I'm always obsessed with Teslas and I'm always obsessed with Tesla's reverse noise too when I get older I'm gonna get myself a Pink Tesla with a reverse noise on it too, I just love Teslas with The revel noise🥰❤️❤️

Someone mentioned you can set a blank MP3 file as the reverse sound. I haven’t tried it yet though.

I think the noise is a safety precaution. I think the whine is perhaps a little too aggressive though.

I wish they just have the classic beep reverse sound like trucks have but more elegant. Not into the whistling sound.

Gaffa tape over the speaker holes under the car really works if you're not bothered with the 'toy box' features. It's very quiet now so I might open up a few of the holes to tune the right output.

You can get the reverse noise disabled in reverse by wiring a relay to your reverse light, so when on it disables the speaker, and in drive or park its enabled again. My tesla doesnt come with speaker i dont hear nothing anyway.

I wonder if I just put a ton of gorilla tape on the speaker if it's better than unplugging. Then the horn and everything still works it's just the backup noise will be far quieter and less obnoxious.

I hate the sound too. There are plenty of petrol cars that are extremely quiet at parking speeds as well and they don't need a speaker...

The reason it was added after that date was for safety. All electric cars have a “noise box” after that September 2019 date. It’s so people in a parking lot can hear when you are reversing. Or coming out of your garage. It’s a safety thing mandated by the government. If you did have an older Tesla without the “noise box” you wouldn’t have access to those cool features like megaphone and the horn sounds

EVs are required by federal law to make noise when backing up or going at low speed in order to warn pedestrians and bicyclists.

My T3 was made in January 2019. No reverse sound. Sadly, now that you e posted this video, guarantee they’ll make it impossible to do . Almost successful… i can’t wait to get my new one with the speaker and mic and all that. Gonna make the noise like a top-fuel dragster 🤣😂🤣

You likely know more but that speaker is used for PWS (pedestrian warning system).

Electric vehicles are required in I think most states to make a noise when reverse, because they don't make noise at all. It's for safety but I don't know how the law works for removing it yourself

Just put tape under the speaker but it's going to be muffled and less quieter.

find the reverse signal and setup something that cuts the speaker feed when it receives the rev signal... a Solid State Relay could do it for example. _

I am annoyed by the sound, I hear it multiple times a day, when my neighbours come and go. I don't recognize other people leaving or getting home with their regular vehicles. Electric cars are silent, that is a good thing, now please don't make them more annoying than any other combustion engine could ever be sound and noise pollution wise. If you live in a crowded place or near parking lots, this kind of reverse sound is a pita after a while.

do you know if the isolation kit still works? I read the following disclaimer on a PWS kit sellers page . “It has been reported that firmware revision 2022.28.X can sense when the PWS speaker is disconnected and will a notification to appear. We are currently working on a solution.”

One of the main reasons for the reverse noise on electric vehicles is to protect blind people. Unlike ICE vehicles, electric vehicles make very little noise when moving, and that's especially true at low speeds, such as when a vehicle is reversing. If blind people cannot hear the vehicle, they may step into its path. While Tesla does have object detection which should prevent hitting someone/something, that technology isn't 100% accurate nor 100% ubiquitous across all EVs, so a sound effect provides an additional layer of safety. To that end, removing/disabling the sound can pose a safety hazard and I imagine it might be illegal in some jurisdictions; although, I am not a lawyer.

Like, I wonder if this new rule (pushed by republicans) 'actually' saved lives - or was just a push to slow down the sale of EVs. that sound should just be the normal sound of an ICE car... wouldnt be annoying, and would be even safer as peoples will recognize that... honestly if i never heard that before and wasnt seeing the car i wouldn't associate that with a car or danger. _

Disabling the Tesla's warning reverse noise isn't recommended. It's a key feature for pedestrian safety, especially in busy areas.

The fact that you didn’t think it would disable boombox is laughable. Obviously it would.

That’s not to annoy the owner of the car but to alert pedestrians of your normally silent vehicle. Removing this is illegal and you risk heavy lawsuit by doing so. The amount of which is going to be more than you spent on the car itself.

This is a safety precaution especially in busy parking lots so pedestrians can hear your car because EV's are terribly dangerously too quiet where folks do not hear EV cars approaching until it's too late!!! Please DO NOT promote disabling this sound. I can understand if you wish to change the sound though.
