Take the humble besser block, add render and pine slats to create a designer seat for floor cushions, a workbench or barbecue bench. It's one outdoor bench three ways!

Natasha, I have watched way to many DIY vids how to make a bench using Cinder Blocks. Always felt they lacked in visual appeal, had a "cheap quality" appearance. Then stumbled on your video. The use of Spray Foam is Brilliant !!! Your bench has a high end designer look. Outstanding you deserve more views/likes/comments then you have.

Thanks Mark. The idea was to keep it super simple but not to look it. It’s a fun one to make too. I’ve since added another layer onto it and turned it into a bbq table.

How's it holding up? Any issues with the base cracking after a year?

This still looks great and it hasn't cracked.

What size boards for seating

I used off-the-shelf sleepers from a hardware store. Use any, so long as they are thick enough not to bend and will fit through the holes. The written instructions are on my website littleredindustries.com/howto/2021/11/28/rendered-block-bench
