If anyone reading this is having a hard time with the lower hose removal, get wd40 or pb blaster with an attached straw nozzle and just put a little bit between the female and male connector and give a sec. Proceed to pull with a wiggle motion up and down (be gentle) and it will slide right off. Just make sure to clean up well. This saved me a huge headache with busting rhe connectors up. Hope this helps

Hi, do you remember what part number the line going to the brake booster is? A previous owner of my Mk5 GTi (2.0T FSI) replaced the lines from the brake booster to the check valve with fuel line. I have the new check valve/pipe assembly but I'm having trouble finding the original vacuum line between this assembly and the brake booster

Thank you so much!!! I solved an on going P0171 code by replacing that exact line , both of my lines were split on bottom of both hoses where you can't see the split. They came off the nipples so easy because they were split so bad. But while I was at it, I saw one on fire side of engine and going to brake boost canister , it was tight on canister but came off at engine so easy like the 2 in front , I checked the hose and it was split also. So out of 6 connections I had all 3 split where they connected to engine. I replaced them all and I have driven car 100 miles so far NO codes came back. Thanks again. Your video saved me a trip to dealer next week.

Thank you sirs. It was funny that you said to be real careful because the nipple can break. That is exactly why I was replacing it because I snapped the nipple off while installing my boost gauge. While pulling the piece that goes to the manifold I heard a snap and I was like "Oh shit."

Hi there, great vid as always!!! Just wondered if there are any other pipes/valves I can replace to rule out from my vacuum leak? I have changed the brake boost assembly as you did in the vid but my brakes are terrible. Real hard pedal and not much stopping 🙈 Any help is appreciated. I don’t want to go straight to the servo if it could be something else. The RHD Mk5 GTI is a pain to work on the servo 👎🏼

Could a P0299 possibly be thrown because of this? After doing a leak test twice, I've found that I needed a new oil dipstick and I can actually see little bubbles forming at the connection between this part's upper hose and its connection receiver. When I hold the vacuum pipe a certain why while doing the leak test, the air leak is almost completely non-existent. What are your thoughts on this?

the vacuum hose that i was trying hard to pull off is connected to the coolant flange. the part is like 45 bucks and sort of a pain in the ass to get to. i just rerouted it to pass the flange, which was quite easy with some misc hoses and what not. just go from the brake booster straight down the bottom to your new part. given that you have the exact same problem i did. Hi. I tried doing exactly what you did, (2008 GTI, FSI)but the bottom connection that is way under the engine did not want to come off, and I ended up breaking the plastic tube that the booster hose connects onto. It's now a big problem that I'm pretty sure I need a garage to get into to fix. I'll need that plastic piece replaced, but I don't know what it's called or what it would cost to get fixed. The plastic tube looks to be just a small part of a bigger piece with other hoses connected into it. Any help would be appreciated.

TheWezy0 No this would not. You likely have another issue.
@jameschester821
@jameschester821 4 жыл бұрын
Yes. I know this was 4 yrs ago, but apparently, some still read the comments and go to this feed... So if it helps some one... If you have hissing at the brake pedal... 99% of the time it is the brake booster itself. The brake booster is the big round drum canister that the master cylinder is bolted onto. Connected by a shaft inside the master cylinder. There is a rubber airbag/diaphragm inside the BB that inflates (from pressure released or driven to it from the intake via hose from intake or in vw case, brake vacuum pump). When you press the brake pedal, the diaphragm is compressed and pushes the shaft forward in the master cylinder to deliver pressurized fluid to the brakes. The hissing you hear is air escaping the BB due to a small puncture or tear in the BB air bag/diaphragm or its seal around the pedal. Replace the Brake Booster

P012A2 code is throwing a check engine light on 09 VW CC 2.0T. No other codes. Engine is working fine and car is functioning okay. Then suddenly changes with a P0171 code and solid check engine light. Had P0300, P0301-P0304, P0171. Changed PCV Value, air filter and cleaned mass airflow sensor, rear vacuum hose, plugs, and coils. Found the problem to have been a major leak on the intake tube connection to the turbo. Tube slipped out of clam at an angle. Clean all the oil and reconnect correcting all problems, except P012A2. Even disconnected the battery for .5 hr to reset the computer. Car working great but code P012A2 remains and trows check engine light, even with a full tank of Super gas, and P0171 returns mainly after startup or a few miles run. It’s said to be a VW alternate definition code that operates like a comparative default standard. Are any key settings for presets to match those optional defaults for a quality run, like standardized settings?

@@xi.Tactix , yes I still have the car and it’s working great, thanks 🙏. The problem for that code P012A2 is the Rear Main Seal. Be observant of an oil leak between the engine and transmission and an overheated engine with an upstream oxygen sensor code or alternates miss fires showing lean curve of fuel balance. Once the rear main sealed is replaced. All symptoms and codes went back to the normal level working order. Note, code P012A2 and check engine light never came back and full power was restored.

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak. This could be the cause. If it is bad it would have visual signs of cracking

Hi i have a 2007 audi a3 1.8tfsi i have the code p0171 i took it to local garage they said its the 02 sensor changed that still problem persists. I then had a diagnotic done at another garage once again and they said it was the intake manifold. I paid for a brand new one from audi and had this fitted. Still problem persist. I need help ideas what it could be. Please help the sign comes and goes. I have noticed it has the biggest impact on fuel Thank you Sam

Been having a rough idle with surging for a while, finally got the P0171 code on the 2007 GTI and low and behold the line connection mentioned in this video is bound in electrical tape. I’m quite irritated both with the guys that did this and the fact I didn’t see it sooner.
