Hint on how it's done: After you deal 10 cards into two piles and flip one pile... Think every other card... When you split the cards into 4 piles, it's still every other... etc... Work it out my friends! GREAT trick on someone. Easy to do. Grab a deck and try it on yourself. It's awesome!

The trick is when they are split in 2 and only one is flipped. After that the 2 piles are combined 1-and-1 into one pile, meaning every even card is up and every odd is down. No shuffling at this point although cutting is ok. Then dealing these 1 by 1 in 4 piles will always make 2 opposite piles having odds and 2 opposite piles having evens. At the end of combining the opposites one is flipped making all of them the same as initially. And yes, no matter how audience picks just as stated

Ok, think of it like assigning syntax to each number, in this case easier to make it 1-20. The four special cards still have their own numbers, but the order really doesn’t matter. That’s why the early shuffling and the ending shuffling are the only true shuffles that randomly scramble them, as the magic happens in between. So, you start by reversing one half of the cards when you deal out ten, by which I mean 1-10 becomes 10-1. Then, you completely flip one or the other pile over, meaning either the 10-1 becomes 1-10 again, or the 11-20 becomes 20-11. Either way, now both piles count down or they both count up. You then alternate them into one big high/low alternating pile, or one low/high alternating pile, where 1 is paired with 11, 2 with 12, and so on. Just remember that every card(including cards from the special 4) of either low or high is backwards, we’ll say the lows for an example. Now, cutting these cards normally does not change the underlying order. Remember that it doesn’t matter if it goes high-low-high or low-high-low, because the whole thing creates a loop, it’s just a syntaxed start point and end point. So, giving this loop different start and end points doesn’t change it. At the end of the cuts, you’re left with a set of cards that alternates lows and highs by the 1, and evens and odds by the 2(because 1 was paired with 11, and both are odd). Syntax at this point doesn’t really matter, just remember that that’s what the pile is. Order is something like low odd, high odd, low even, high even. So how does making four piles separate them? Well, the front and back piles will have the same high/low parity because you skip a card each time, and the same with the left and right piles. In fact, the top has the odds and the bottom has the evens (or vise versa). So, let’s imagine front and back are low and left and right are high. Putting one on top of the other means you have a pile of all low cards, and the other piles merge to a pile of all high cards. Now you flip one of the two piles over, and we are back to where we started with the first flipping over. Either the high cards or the low cards were flipped over, and now you do that again, so they cancel each other out. After the flip, shuffling them is fine, cause the trick has already happened. I probably made this way over complicated, but it is really cool.

Love that Rich is going back to cards. He was one of my first KZfaq teachers. Haha. I think one way or another, all the shuffle combinations undo the first random mix up.

I think it's more like the first mix up isn't random and the dealing is what undoes it. The shuffle combinations are just for show.

as a self-worker … shuffling or cutting cards makes no difference in orientation … equal number of cards ends up in each pile (20/4 = 5) … as long as turn-over of piles is equal, will end up the way it started 🤔

Hi Rich Very nice trick.. The first 10 alternated cards are splitted exactly by one non-alternated card when you mix the 2 10-cards piles (like a Faro shuffle). Then, when dealing the four 5-cards hands, they are facing each others up/down or left/right, doesn't matter because when you reunite the piles, in fact you're reuniting the original 10-cards piles. The final switch is in fact reverting the cards in their original positions, with the 4 aces backwards the other cards. (Sorry for my poor English and if my explanations are not clear). Very cool trick, I love the multiple misdirection and the illusion that the spectator is in control and can influence the putckne by his choices at all stages (but in fact not 😆). As its self working and sleight-on-hand free I will try it remotely on Zoom this weekend. Thanks for sharing this great trick 👍

Not sure but I think the sloppy shuffle is involved. Awesome trick! 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

It's actually pretty simple. Basically, you have the half of the cards that are still facing the same way as their original position (we'll call them the U half) and the half that got flipped (D half). Because they are alternated (not shuffled) together, we still know where each half is: the pile alternates between U and D cards, and will still do so if you cut it because, since there is an even number of cards, the top and bottom cards always belong to different groups. Then, when you deal it out, since you deal an even number of piles, each pile will have cards only from one half, and the piles will alternate between U cards and D cards. Thus, all you have to do is combine the cards from similar piles and flip one half. The cards are now either all facing U direction or all facing D direction.

how i think it works is wen you have that 2 piles it doesnt matter wat one you flip over coes 1 of the piles are already fliped its from the start, and wen you deal the cards in to 4 piles the maths works and it some how splits it in to 1 up pile and 1 down pile so yea thats how i thnk it works btw ive been watching you since i loved magic good to see you back

Hey Rich , thats awesome. I like that trick. Is that an original? Dang thats a good one sir. Glad to see you still doing your thang. Lol. I hope their is a tutorial soon, but my guess is that you did it with mirrors. One mirror was even, and the other was odd, just like my reply. Haaa haa. Wait, is the deck a double backed deck of cards? It just hit me. Coz then when you do the topsey, turvey moves, it doesnt matter, the 4 aces will eventually be face down. A for effert/ affart. Lol. Thnx Rich. Im also glad to see that you didnt fall off the porch, hanging those dang Christmas lights. Rich, I have a question to ask you. I bought a cheap magic deck of cards that are all tappered. I started messing w it and learning cool tricks. But i need to find out, how do i put the cards in the direction that they came in? If i want to find a card, after they pick one and put it in the deck, after i turned the deck around. I cant find the card coz many have turned around. 😕.. Is there a way to tell? I cant figure it out. Maybe i need mirrors. Lol. Peace and love, Glen polen

Cool. I’m no rocket surgeon, or brain scientist, so this all I got: I believe it has to do with the even number of cards (that is even number 4, 16, and 20). I am unclear on how cutting the deck in half (chance of odd number of cards), going into the mix. Thanks.
