HOW TO: DO AN OIL CHANGE | KAWASAKI KLX300

Not sure how to do an oil change and don't want to pay crazy shop bills?
STEP ONE: Prep your work area, plan for a mess.
STEP TWO: Warm up oil (let bike idle for a few mins, then cool off a bit too)
STEP THREE: Loosen oil plug (9/16th or 14mm)
STEP FOUR: Loosen oil filter cover (11/16th or 8mm)
STEP FIVE: Remove filter and clean house best you can!
STEP SIX: Dab the smallest bit of grease/vaseline on spring to hold in place
STEP SEVEN: Insert new filter, tighten cover back up!
STEP EIGHT: once all oil is drained, plug it back up. DONT BE A STRONG MAN, BE FIRM! If you tighten the plug too much..bad times ahead!
STEP NINE: Pour in new oil (1.5L of fully synthetic 10w40)
STEP TEN: Ride!
Kawasaki KLX300 Dual Sport. Probably the same for the KLX300SM & KLX300R

Time to change my 2024 KLX. This is so ez compared to my 1993 GSXR1100. I had to remove exhaust header to get oil filter past it. Nightmare but I loved that bike. The older I get the easier I want things.

You can also lay the bike over on the left side to get that spring and filter in.

definitely! a lot of ppl dont want to tip the bike, or they cant lift it back up though. if you can, it's prob easier lol!

I use just a little bit of waterproof grease just a dab it’ll hold it no problem

Just so you know, those drain plug crush washers aren’t meant to be reused. So make sure it doesn’t start leaking on you.

I don't know for sure about KLX, but oil level on a Concours 14 supposed to be checked while bike is level (or at a center stand on a level surface) Are you sure it's correct to check the oil level while bike is leaning over on a kickstand? It it's meant to be checked while the bike is upright - you overfilled it.

Not a big deal, you burn the excess oil anyways
