Yes the marker should be oil based and you can wash the mugs just try not to scrub them so hard.

Hi! Do I have to bake this in order for it to be permanent? I'm not comfortable putting it in the oven.

Serina G. What I used here is a permanent paint marker and I didn’t bake it afterwards. But you can also bake it for 45 mins to 1 hr. if you like. For me as long as I just wash them with soap and sponge without scrubbing hard the writing won’t come off.

@@SF-ze6go Bake the mug in the oven for 30 minutes at 350°F. Remember to place the mug in the oven before it heats up and leave it in until the oven cools completely so there won't be any cracks.

what about when you wash mugs ..when words wash out. how do you seal it

I used an oil based marker so it doesn’t come off easily when washing as long as you don’t rub them so often. Others bake them as well for about 45 mins.
