@tyler_iverson46772 жыл бұрын
@@actualhuman5759 no your dad can play on the 35+ leagues he is not "too old" there is no such thing as being to old to play hockey, and when he gets even older if he still wants to play he can play on the 65+ leagues 👍🏻

I live in the Southern US, where most of us grow up roller skating. I used to play roller derby and got frustrated the first time I tried ice skating (in my mid-30s) and quickly realized how different it is! You have a real gift for breaking down the steps and dynamics of these skills. Thanks so much.

I live in the south as well, I'm really glad Nashville is starting to have more hockey rinks and leagues. I'm fourteen and I've just started learning and already have my own pair of ccm tacks. Have fun with your adventure of ice skating!

The best/clear explanation by far among the videos I have seen! Even though I have watched so many video regarding forwards crossover I was still baffled. After watching yours, I can at least understand how it works and should be done, making me confident enough to try this skill by myself in an ice rink in my town (NJ, USA). Thanks!

There are a few drills that you can practice, I can explain them in detail on the forum page at hockeytutorial. com if you post a questions in the forum asking for more detail. You could also subscribe to my channel as I'll have a video on that subject coming out after xmas and new year. The video will hopefully have all the tips you need to learn the crossovers on your weak side. How does that sound?

@HockeyTutorialOfficial11 жыл бұрын
Try to practice leaning on your left skate against the boards, slowly put more and more weight on it while holding on to the sides. Work on getting your inside skate use to having weight on it while its leaning on the outside edge (like your turning or crossing over). Also most sure your laces arent too tight

I have recently got back into skating (Ice and inline) after having a bad ligament injury that has taken me years to recover from, I now feel confident enough to go out skating again. As I teenager I used to use aggressive skates, now I'm older I have seen the light and it's all about hockey. The one thing I'm finding hard are crossovers, every time I try and crossover I feel like I'm going to fall and injure myself again, Is there anything you would recommend for adding that extra bit of confidence?

Hello thanks for the video.I would like to know one thing. My dominant (stronger) leg is the right left but when I am on skates I can crossover only anti clockwise so right leg over the left but doing it in the opposite way (clockwise) is very hard for me. The same with the stopping I can stop very well with right skate in front but with left leg I am not able to this. Do you have any drills how ti improve the "left (weaker) leg performance" ? :) Thanks
@HockeyTutorialOfficial11 жыл бұрын
Be sure to keep your knees slightly bent and remember to start off with your skates shoulder width apart. its all about developing the balance to do this with confidence. practice the crossover motion off the ice (it helps believe it or not)... remember chest square to the ice and head up (helps control your weight and centre of gravity).
@allaroundgaming37579 жыл бұрын
i need help, whenever i try to do crossovers i feel like im gonna fall, i know thats normal and you have to trust your blades but its hard haha, any advise??
@Cameestewee9 жыл бұрын
I was exactly the same. I put it off for months and then I just went for it and it worked. Everyone falls when they're skating, if you fall, who cares? No one will remember 5 minutes later. Also, don't try and do it to begin with when you're going really fast, just go a nice gentle speed and practice first.
@dracolich3459 жыл бұрын
Why is it bad to dip the shoulders when doing forward crossovers? I'm a beginner and today i was told to do precisely that in order to get the feel of shifting my weight and really trust the edges in my skates
@elysianpetrichor83618 жыл бұрын
I just started learning how to ice skate from a friend of mine that plays ice hockey. He says I skate very well for a person that just started tonight and tried to get me to do crossovers. I could never get myself to have the courage to balance on one foot and just crossover the other foot because I was staring at my feet. I was also wondering if I couldn't do it because I wasn't skating at a pace fast enough to attempt it. Do you have any advices on just having enough courage to try it out?

Hi! I've been learning cross overs for a few weeks now and I keep having the problem where my inner skate is very shaky when I put my weight on my left skate in a left turn and would often cause me to fall on my side. My current solution is to put my left hand out in a low, forward position to balance myself but I have a feeling its more to do with my feet and usage of the blade than my balancing. Do you have any tips to how I can eliminate the shaky inner skate?(my laces are tight). Many thanks

When I go really fast when I cross over, I notice I don't even lift my foot anymore, it kinda just slides into position, when I do slow crossovers I have to lift my foot.

what sucks for me is the fact that i played soccer for 8 years and when i first started hockey, my right foot would be dominate and therefore could only do forward right crossovers (right over left) and not the other way around. Is there any way to train myself into doing the left crossovers?

Me again... Whene I crossover, my left leg slips out of place (I lift my right leg over my left leg) it's not becuase they aren't sharp enough as they feel really and I haven't been using all that much since my last sharpening. I took in mind all your tips. So what is the problem there?

Why is placing the foot in front of the other not a good technique? I see it a lot and seems to generate good speed as well. Is there another term for this action such as frontovers or something

I've ben skating for 2 years, intermediate here, and damn it idk why I find it so hard to cross over, when I'm going fast and have to cross over i feel like I've been skating for a week instead of two years, but I've barely practiced it that's the problem I guess.
@theo76738 жыл бұрын
+williams maqueira the way i learned was doing it very slow in a small circle outline in the middle of the rink, you dont need to fully cross over your feet your dominent foot just needs to slightly go a tiny bit over the side if the weeaker foot
@theo76738 жыл бұрын
+williams maqueira i had this problem too because i was trying to fully cross over my feet until i lost balance
