I always cover the lens with my hand, without touching it, and use the advance lever. It works well for me.

Good to hear, it makes sense if you can do it smoothly.

One small addition: when you cover the lens with something, it is actually safe to use the advance lever to close the shutter. You only shouldn't do it when the lens is still projecting an image.

That might be useful when using a filter like cokin or similar.

Thanks! Super helpful :) One think I wonder is how people focus on this camera. Everything seems so small through the view finder. Is there like a "magnifier" I could use? Thanks again!

Do you have a video on how to do long exposures correctly on a Rb67? Thanks!

It's the same trick with Bernack Leicas. I was wondering if you were doing the wrong way when I watched your last video... great that you make a follow up video to correct that.

Please can you show a flash set up with this kind of camera?

If you want the light streaks and artifacts to show in the picture, then using the advance lever for closing the shutter is an option. It should be intentional though, if done.

I have a long exposure hat for when I shoot the GW long exposures!

@@NicosPhotographyShow For you Nico, something dashing I think. A bowler maybe?
@PaxtonCole
@PaxtonCole Жыл бұрын
May be a stupid question here but does placing a hat or hand in front of the lens not create any motion blur? I’m so used to using my little canon AE1 for long exposure shots where I can release the cable and boom lens closes nice and easy
@bnrynlds
@bnrynlds Жыл бұрын
@@PaxtonCole Not a stupid question. As long as the hat covers the lens before it touches it the light is already blocked so if the camera moves there's no blur. A dark thing moving across the lens doesn't affect the film at all.

A gas station in the dark... on Cinestill... now there's an idea! Why does no one do that? (TBH, the only reason I don't take pictures of gas stations at night is that I don't go out at night much. Thinking about it, does anyone shoot UK gas stations at night? Perhaps I ought to...)

My first advice would come before your first advice of reading the manual. For the manuals that usually come with the camera, it is a small book that is hard to read. I found that most manuals are also on line, so my advice is download the manual so that you can see it easily and then read the manual on your computer.
@NicosPhotographyShow
@NicosPhotographyShow 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, its the best start, sadly most of us are lazy and just google the topic, so thats why I create short answer videos for the ones that dont want to read. But I fully agree, the manual is the place to start.

A hat seems to be a photographic multi tool. You can also shade your lens with it if you have forgotten a lens shade. Gerardo Bonomo recommended it lately ;)

You will not have access to change the shutter speed dial if you use cokin or lee filter holder attached in front of the lens as you have to retract lens hood.😂😂😂

That exactly the problem I have right now. Still thinking to permanently remove the hood
@NicosPhotographyShow

It might be the only way, remove the hood and work with the filter set.

That's why I bought the GW690 first version. No issue! Except for how to know what's happening with my CP filter 🤔
