why do we have to use a motor? Is solidworks not capable of simulating this toy model or is simulation not so accurate?

Gravity and contact working properly. But motor is not working. Is there any opinions need to enable

make sure ur rpm RE NOT TOO SMALL

Probably you didn't made any contact between balls and wheel
