This is good information, I got a dude in a choke in sparring and his head popped out. He got me with a Kimura and my shoulder is wrecked so I'm taking time off watching these videos to come back stronger.

Thanks Marcelo, he's been my inspiration in grappling for well over a decade. If a really big strong guy had over powered me, I would think I needed to be bigger. But Marcelo was always a reminder that my technique was the key, I didnt need to be bigger, the potential skill improvements were limitless, he would compete in absolute division against these monsters. I love watching anything he does or any of his instructional vids, my bucket list definitely has me visiting his club in NY

Marcelo is a great instructor, he actually cares about what you to learn. Love the way he breaks the technique down into many details. Marcelo always shows knowledge and deep understanding of his sport. Truly respect him, and he's such an inspiration to all grapplers. Thank you for sharing this video.

well the guillotine AND the north south choke I still can't do...maybe because of long arms... if someone has tips regarding that (reversed hand triangle choke is working as a charm in the meantime)

I catch north south all the time with super long arms I’d say if you can’t finish Marcelo style by sinking back into it then try Jeff Monsons x crank version I use that a lot as well

for te north south, if you start setting it up and cinching it in from side control rather then north south position, it will be much tighter

It can still work but it requires adjustments. I use both even though I have slender arms. For me I could apply Marcelo's guillotine as is, for some reason it was quite intuitive for me (but I cannot use the Marcelotine on my left arm for some reason; on my left side I use totally different mechanics and actually prefer arm-in). For N/S choke it took me a long time to develop, and I explored a lot of finishing mechanics that Marcelo either does not teach, or he has taught before but he does not emphasize. In the meantime you can also work on things like katagatame, d'arce chokes, anaconda chokes, etc, which I think are more natural for slender, long-armed people.

I bought Marcelo’s guillotine instructional from BJJ fanatics. I was really disappointed that he didn’t cover the actual choke mechanics or how to finish it. It was purely set ups from different positions. I’m Marcelo’s biggest fan but that was a let down. I’d expect the whole intro to be about the high elbow, the grips etc. But there was nothing..

Just google a free video of him on how to finish the guilliotine. Theres a bunch of free instructionals. Thats probably why he didnt touch on it. Theres not much on how to get it from different positions tho.
