How to Document Your Special Moments with Scrapbooking

Happy Wednesday Friends!! So sorry for the delay this morning - I had some technical issues that prevented me from getting this out at 10:00. Anyway, in today's video, I will be walking you through how I plan to document my special moments in life with scrapbooking. Time is flying by, that is for sure, and I know that it's easy to miss these special moments because of our busy schedules - but I'm really trying to use my time for good. I'm currently documenting my life's journey here on KZfaq and many other social media platforms, but I've also been wanting to start a scrapbook that details so many of the special moments that have already happened in my life, and all of those yet to come. So let's dive into today's episode, and I look forward to hearing what you think about my first attempt of scrapbooking. Enjoy!!

What a treat to get fresh, new content mid week! I used to love flipping through my families photo albums. Everything is digital today so we sometimes lose that physical experience. I love this idea.

Once I lost so many photos and memories on Facebook - which got taken away without any notice. I did nothing wrong, yet they still took down my account and everything that came with it. Now I have all of my memories stored on a drive, printed and saved in a box, or now in this book. I'm really loving this new hobby!!

I just so enjoy your channel. I was also in Barcelona in 2023. Traveling to other parts of the world has been my joy. I recognized the church in your picture and it took me back there. Wonderful memories and I enjoy your words of encouragement to live well also.😊

Thank you!!!! I so appreciate the lovely compliment. I just love Barcelona - it's one of my current favorite places. I've been there a few times and it just happened that the company that I work for is headquartered there. I'm hoping to get back there very soon!

Truly, I feel most at peace when I'm creating anything with my hands. This project reminded me of how much I used to love painting. I'm quite rusty at it, but I'm looking forward to getting better over time. I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video. Thank you as always for watching!!

What a fantastic idea. It's so much better than a photo album or a scrapbook. Adding those special notes and memories of the moment captured in the photo is the cherry on top. And Jessica, you are quite the watercolor artist. Is there anything you can't do? I'll just say it again, "Your are amazing."

Thank you!!! That's whats been so fun about putting this together, remembering specific things to write down along with the picture. I have a long ways to go to filling it up, but it's coming together nicely. So glad you enjoyed it! And what can't I do? Sit down and relax without feeling like I need to be doing something. I love this midweek video. Shanty sweet and meaningful…remember the time because time is short and fleeting… I used to be a big time scrapbooked and did Memory Keeping. I love the personal touch of painting your own scape and inserting pictures plus journaling. Thanks for this quick fun and inspirational video!

I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. I started to pull out all of my supplies and I said "you know what, go and grab your camera so that you can inspire others to think about starting one too" - and the rest is history. I've added in so many entries since this video - I'll have to show you guys some of them next week. Also - I've been really enjoying learning how to watercolor. It seems easy until you get started and the paper starts to dry - but I'm loving it and hoping to be able to take a class locally soon!!!

This was such a great idea! You’re so right that we don’t own any of the platforms where we currently share our pictures, so this is such a lovely way to preserve those precious memories. Loved this wholesome video. You’ve inspired me to seriously consider scrapbooking too!

Yay!!! I love that! My Facebook got taken away, without warning, and there was nothing I could do about it. They said I posted something that went against their guidelines - which of course I did not, and they took my account, the pictures that were only on FB, and alot of the memories with it. My sister and good friend's IG account was taken in the same way. So I make sure that while I share my special moments on social media, I also always keep a copy (and now print pictures) for me to have forever!

Great video!!! I think we have gotten so far into the digital age the some people don’t think about the fact that these things can be taken away in an instant. I have been doing what I call art journaling for years, which is pretty much what you did here. I want my sons to have a tangible documentation of their lives with us. Thank you for sharing!

Exactly!!!!! My Facebook was taken away, so was my sister's IG account - because we got hacked and the people started posting horrible things. Meta never took the time to realize what was going on, and gave us no notice or any way to get it back. So now, I don't spend the time posting there because I don't trust that it's not going to happen again. Instead I have things saved in files, in boxes, and now this book. I'm really loving it - and I love that you are doing the same. Great minds for sure!!!!

@@jessicapayne I am so sorry that happened to you all. It happened to my cousins IG, and she has no way of getting back into her account. I think it shows us that these things aren't ours, just as you said. I hope people take heed and begin to do their own physical memory keeping as well as posting to social media.

Thank you!!!! I haven't painted in a very long time - but I used to paint a lot back in the day. There was a time when all of the paintings in my home were mine - and from time to time, I would sell some things online. This was the first time I picked up a paint brush in years, and just like that I realized how much I missed it. So I'm thinking you guys may see more of me painting in the future - it truly is therapeutic!

Hahahaha!!!! I thought I would do a little Wednesday surprise. I wanted to do the same this wednesday, but things took a little turn (for the good) and now the content I was going to share, will now be shared this Sunday! I explain more in tomorrow's newsletter.
