I use a similar method by flashing older version through TWRP coz the latest update caused some sort of bootloop (not sure what it was)

I tried your method to downgrade from 25.1 to 23 and it completely destroyed the root , i tried to repair it by flashing it on TWRP but it didn't work , now i completely lost the root ☹️☹️☹️ Edit : After a lot of trouble i got the root back , the safest way to do it is by Uninstalling magisk from magisk manager and re-flashing the version you want from TWRP .

I'm sorry you had issues with the method I demonstrated in the video. What do you mean by 'destroyed root'? I didn't have that issue with my Pixel 6 in the video. what phone are you using? maybe it's the TWRP install that you had messing it up?

@@ExplainingAndroid Xiaomi redmi note 8 pro (begonia) , no i have the right version of TWRP , after i flashed with your method it disabled the root like it never was installed , and when i tried to install it again from twrp it installed but don't appear (manager don't detect root ) , then i was thinking if it not installed and don't want to install maybe it has become corrupted so i tried to uninstalled from twrp by renaming uninstall.zip, but it gave me error every time and asked from me to uninstall it from magisk manager which i couldn't do because magisk manager don't detect the root 😵 , at the end i was trying all the magisk from 23 to 25.1 on twrp one by one installing them and uninstalling them (which gives error) , at the end i flashed the 25.1 zip (renamed to unistall like the others ) which also gived me error but this time i cleared dalvik cache , rebooted and then flashed other time 25.1from TWRP which finally got me back the root then uninstall it from magisk manager and flashed 23.0 from TWRP . I think you didn't have the issue because you downgrader from 25.1 to 24 , i tried downgrad from 25.1 to 23

exact very true sometimes we think that the downgrade is obligatory but it is not so the owner can also not do it certain remains the written "update" the root permissions issue the same yes I want to mess around then I have to have Root Explorer I go to the root folder I look for the sbin folder I open and here I can not say it in respect of his channel. W the root "every day"😃🍉

I don't understand why you didn't downgrade the Apk too ?? And also the best version is 23.0 , because after this version the owner have sold us to google by removing magisk hide and safty net test

I felt this video was already getting long enough so that would be best suited for a different video. since the process to find the JSON link for the custom update path is rather convoluted, it would have more than doubled the length. I'm going to work on getting that video together soon

I did this but it didn’t work on my S10 plus. I tried to download Magisk 23.0 I also deleted Magisk and root and tried to root again with 23.0 but it didn’t work, only the latest version works

That's because from 24.3 changelog , downgrade / restoring image isnt possible.

This caused my phone to hang on the Samsung logo. Luckily I had a boot.img backup.

Lost Root access, it just installed a new APK. And the old one is still there but not functional. Do have to flash now and loose all data? :O

you will need to flash the magisk zip/apk file in a custom recovery. . .or flash the patched boot.img file via fastboot mode. then you'll get root access again (withotu losing all of your data) If you're able to, please consider becoming a KZfaq channel member here - www.youtube.com/@ExplainingAndroid/join
