Why would you want to learn how to install mods in Minecraft 1.20.6? Well, mods allow you to customize and change Minecraft to be exactly how you want it adding features like new mods, building blocks, dimensions, or even just quality of life features.
To get started, you will need to download and install the Forge mod loader for 1.20.6. You can find a link in the description above to our complete guide on getting Forge for 1.20.6 Minecraft mods. This will cover everything include any issues you may have getting Forge for your mods.
Once you have Forge, we will need to go over how to download mods in Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.6. You will most likely be downloading your mods from CurseForge or Modrinth. Both of these are linked in the description above alongside the mods we are installing in this video - JourneyMap and Tree Harvester.
When downloading your Minecraft mods, it is extremely important that your mods are for the Forge mod loader and Minecraft version 1.20.6. If they aren’t for Forge 1.20.6, they will not work, so keep that in mind when you are looking for mods to download. You also need to be on the look out for library or compatibility mods. These are mods that are needed for other mods to work, and can often cause Minecraft to not start if they are forgotten after you have added your 1.20.6 mods.
After you have your mods downloaded, we can move on to how to install Minecraft mods in 1.20.6. The firststep of this is opening up Minecraft using your Forge installation. Then, after you do this, go to the “Mods” button on the main menu.
In the bottom left of the mods menu, you will have a “mods folder” button. Click this to open your Minecraft mods folder. Drag-and-drop the Minecraft 1.20.6 mods you want to install into this mods folder. It’s that easy to add mods to Minecraft.
In order to actually activate and use your Minecraft mods though, you will need to restart Minecraft making sure that you are playing Minecraft with your Forge installation. Once you are back into Minecraft 1.20.6, your mods will be active! You can now use them in-game.

MC 1.20.6, Tree harvester and collectives are compatible, but forge and journeymap claim to be incompatible and stop any attempt to load a world. It then gives the prompt "Internal Exception: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: 'net.minecraftforge.network.NetworkDirection net.minecraftforge.event.network.CustomPayloadEvent$Context.getDirection()' ." Is there a known way to fix this? I've been having this problem for a couple days.

hey if ur still having this problem let me clear it for u, you have to have to same optifine as forge, so if forge is 1.20.4 you need optifine 1.20.4 nothing higher and nothing lower let me know if this helps

optifine and forge have to be the same versions , if forge is 1.20.4 optifine has to be 1.20.4 if forge is 1.20.6 u need optifine 1.20.6, if there is no 1.20.6 optifine then u need to downgrade to lower

When i go to open forge with Java it says its unable to install Java (i tried running jarfix to see if it would help but the is no latest Java Runtime Enviroment installed and then asks if i want to install it so i did so i tried opening that and got the same issue where it says its unable to install)

Honestly it could just be that your computer doesn't have enough processing power. I know my computer lags terribly with Minecraft and will sometimes crash if I have too many mods installed. Regular minecraft runs fine, it's just the mods.

ok can someone help me, i know how to do this normally and its a pretty simple process for me. How do I play with Mods and Shaders at the same time? When I go to Minecraft Launcher, I'm not able to run the shader and mod at the same time. Is there a way to be able to? I'm using Iris for the Shaders and Forge for the Mods.
