While it might be easier for you it's a bad habit, if you want to get better results in your ratios and balance practice shaping the figure and filling it before going into detail.

It's all dependant on what you want to achieve and how good you want to be, if you want to improve don't start with anime, start with anatomy then once you've grasped those techniques go back to anime and scale back detail. Hope this helps.

I can draw almost any anime character so tip: don’t use angles a lot as it’s easier to freehand the first layer then go onto details on the others

No it actually isn't, anatomy is, if you start with a Manga art style you'll develop bad habits and can actually end up struggling with more advanced art styles more. Reason for that is that Manga is actually a lot easier to draw than other styles, but the truly great Manga artists such as Takehiko Inoue for instance have mastered detailed anatomy then scale back to amplify their art through perfect minimalism, but in order to reach that you need the fundamentals first. I say all this as an artist myself.
