Jesica Hopper, thank you for these videos.I started a business in Holland Michigan in 1992 and this year will force me to retire to some degree. My sister Julie is a very accomplished artist. She can do just about anything. I approached her and told her that when I retire which translates to now, I want to learn to sketch and paint in watercolors and acrylic. I told her I have no talent. She reminded me she didn't have any talent when at 7 years old, our aunt showed Julie how to draw runway models. Within a year she was sketching so well that her work could not be distinguished from artists with ten years experience .Julie was always a home body. She learned to play the violin and flute, she became a national honors scholar, an academic all American, spoke fluent French and was one of three top students in her class. So, Julie called me and encouraged me to pick up the pencil and start to draw. She told me that what distinguished her from others in thousands of hours practice.. Julie told me many times that sketching and painting allow her to relax and give her a great sense of peace. Julie purchased two books for me to learn from and I am deep into both of them now. I found you on line when I put drawing lines for beginners in the search bar and pressed go. I watched about five minutes of your video on drawing eyes and I was hooked Then I watched you do noses. I have a granddaughter whom the camera loves and she too loves to draw and paint. She is ten now and she encouraged me as well. Grace told me that she and her brother Will were ready to paint with me now and she assured me that she will help me learn new things. Well, after finding you and getting into your videos I believe at 71 that I am going to launch into a new career, its called relaxation and I am just getting into it. I am relying on you for teaching me the start to finish technique of drawing and painting. I can't thank you enough for making and sharing your videos and your passion for sketching and anything else that you have chosen to do.. Thank you again, I look forward to learning from you. Hi Jessica. I use to power carve and wanted to desperately carve faces. Well wood spirit faces. And this was before KZfaq too. I had an extreme issue with the eyes, always with the eyes. I think this video will help me get back into the art again. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Finally.....A 'Lefty' !! Feeling frustrated trying to learn from a right handed painter, or one who draws. I love doing both, but my brain says, HUH? This was a superb video/tutorial, Jescia! I can't wait to watch your other tutorials. Thanks so much - I'm inspired now!!!

Also here is a random tip; if you are RIGHT handed, start drawing the eye on the LEFT side of the paper first, then the right eye. That way when you start drawing the second eye you can see what you are doing. If you are LEFT handed, you will want to start drawing the eye on the right side of the paper first.

My issue isn't in the sketch it is when I ink and not able to 100% trace my own lines and one eye some how always has a slight shift... And it just bothers me when it happens.

If there is one thing that screws up my faces, yes, its the dam eyes! :) Its gets worse as the you look at the face at more of an angle.
