great one! any non celebraties faces by the way?
@ExplodeCreativeKingscliff7 жыл бұрын
Hey Ah, I do non-celebrities as commissions over on explodecreative.com.au I just use celebrities as examples in these vids so people can recognize their likeness.
@kengfatt7 жыл бұрын
thanks for your reply, sometime just find that it's kinda hard to get non-celebrities likeness especially they only provide 1 or 2 photos..
@ExplodeCreativeKingscliff7 жыл бұрын
Absolutely right. It's the biggest challenge only having a couple photos of a subject. Lighting and angles can deceive, and you can't really perceive someone's personality through a picture or two. With commissions sometimes all you can do is ask for more pictures so you don't miss out on any unique aspects of them you couldn't see in the other pictures. When practicing on celebs though, I prefer to watch them talking in an interview video while I draw.

What Software is being used ? Is he using the mouse or a pen ? I tried with a mouse using "Gimp" ... it was rather awkward
@ExplodeCreativeKingscliff7 жыл бұрын
Yeah drawing with a mouse is super difficult. I use Photoshop with a Wacom tablet. If you're getting into digital art, it might be worth getting a small Wacom Intuos which is one of the more affordable ones. Avoid the cheap no-brand tablets, my friend got one and it bricked itself after a few months.

Of course Russell Crowe is gonna have Crowe's feet, sheesh. Not in his face though, obviously.

"Nah, gonna remove the bags under his eyes. Makes him look sixty years old." He's 53. You put them there for a reason. They sold the likeness. The whole point of caricature isn't just to flatter somebody, it's to show what's unique about them. Removing something that's a key part of a person's appearance feels odd to me. It's kind of like implying a normal attribute they already have is bad somehow. He earned those eye wrinkles, they make him look like a hardened badass. Take them away, he just looks sad. Suddenly, his eyes are scrunched up not because he's older but because they're being manipulated by his emotions. Intention has been added where none should exist. Now the left-hand side of his head looks like Russell Crowe but the right-hand side looks like Chris Evans. This is my only real critique with your work I've seen. Your artistic mind knows when a wrinkle should be there but you take them out anyway. If the wrinkle fits, the wrinkle fits. If it doesn't, it doesn't. I think, personally, if you allowed yourself not to remove wrinkles just for the sake of it, your work would be able to reach its full potential. It feels like a strange limitation to me.
