What I would’ve given to have access to something like this as a kid. “How to Draw the Marvel Way” was pretty much it back then.

Yup and shit was wack cause it didn't explain anything other then how to do fundamentals it was for us to try them and prefect them which as a kid ain't that easy 😂

Not going to lie. When this video popped up, I was a little surprised at the 30 min runtime. 30 minutes...just on capes?? Well, now I feel foolish. So much good information here! Brilliant!! Thanks Dave!

The other week David followed me on Instagram and it meant more to me than even I would have thought. It just hit different. I credit him with helping me so much - from his old gnomon workshop videos, to meeting him in person in Sydney, to all of these informative KZfaq videos. I’ve got a new piece I just completed and I googled finch capes for inspiration (this video is a happy coincidence). I think we all can thank David for what he’s done for comics 🙏🙌

This was a great tutorial. I've seen this concept in books but seeing you do it makes it more interesting and memorable. I have an idea for another tutorial. You should draw a foreshortened figure like how you drew Spawn, but explain how you're approaching it; explain your thought process as you draw. I think that would be extremely helpful. Also: Todd McFarlane forever!

Dave, in tonight's Livestream with Kurt, you said that you were sharing common knowledge in the capes video. One thing I think pros forget is that, at some point, they too had to acquire that knowledge, so it may not be as common as one thinks. Even me, who has been drawing for most of my 55 years, can, and often has, learned new ways of doing things. I've done drapery studies several times over the years, but your way of showing it here, made it hit in a new way that I'll be practicing from now on. Capes have always been a weak point in my drawing, and now, thanks to you, I have the means of improving by looking at it in that new way. It makes me wish we had the Internet when I was young. You really do give so freely of your knowledge and time and are so nice to everyone on your streams that I feel justified when I said that you remind me of “Uncle” George. You are carrying his legacy forward in such a good way. Thank you.

Thank you for doing this video. I’ve been hoping that you or Jim or Todd would do one. Thanks to you I feel my art has been growing in leaps and bounds every time I put pencil to paper. Would you be able to do a video on the pelvic area? It’s the point where all the leg and torso muscles meet and it seems like most artists either black it out or cover it with belts and armour. Thank you again.
