There are also weird rubber/plastic bottom of feet covers. (took me a while to find them, they are called nakefit, which sounds weird but not as much as the things that popped up trying to find out how they were called.) those might be very helpful for anyone wanting to wear a hobbit style out, because at conventions and fairs you still might want to protect the bottom of your feet from cuts

Another idea is to take old flip flops and add hair. Its really silly looking, but protects your feet as well.

Actually, Bilbo's mother Belladonna went on adventures with Gandalf, which was why Gandalf knew Bilbo better than some others :)

This is actually super helpful both for cosplay tips and for inspiration on incorporating more "hobbity" attire in to my everyday wardrobe, with the textures and basic styling. All part of my eternal quest to gradually become more and more of a hobbit until one day someone finds me literally living in a hole in a hill in New Zealand.

Great tutorial! I have an alternative suggestion to the foot hair, based on a costume I put together for a convention. I've always imagined hobbits as having REALLY hairy feet, because they need that hair to keep warm in the winter! So I ordered werewolf shoe covers from eBay and trimmed them to fit over a pair of sandals (this part was pretty messy - fake fur everywhere). I stitched some yarn onto the sides to keep the shoe covers attached to the sandals. That way I could walk around with the hairy feet and not have to worry about stepping on something painful.

OMG I loved this so much! Dressing as a hobbit is one of my cosplay/Halloween costume goals, and this makes it seem so attainable. Also, the editing style is on point. I mean, it always is, but the thing you've done for the last couple videos where you break down the outfits is super fun editing-wise.

You mentioned something about sticking to earthy tones. I'd like to object- the very first chapter of the book says that hobbits like to wear bright colours, particularly green and yellow. Of course, most of their clothes are functional, for field work and stuff, so brown breeches and white shirts are common, and I'd definitely stay away from any gaudy colours and stick to more natural dyes, but definitely definitely do include colours in your hobbit outfits! Especially green and yellow. (As long as they're not unnatural-looking dyes.)

Love this! My kids (even my daughter and son-in-law) all dressed up as Lord of the Rings characters for Halloween one year and I helped create a lot of the looks. My youngest son was Frodo Baggins and it was a riot as he already had the curly hair and small stature as he happens to be an individual with Williams syndrome. He really kind of looked like Frodo...lol We love your channel...you remind me of my daughter, especially your humor....Keep doing what you’re doing and just keep being you.

I already had the habit of singing "the Ring goes South" whenever my partner and I go hiking and the scenery reminds me of the film. After watching this, he's also going to have to put up with me trying to persuade him that we should wear hobbit gear too 😍 He totally wont, but one can always dream 😅

This is probably one of my favorite videos you have ever done. ☺ Not it did I love the content, but your editing style just gets more and more awesome. Side note, I got the tee I bought from your first round of merch and am planning on wearing it tomorrow. I am channeling my inner Rachel and wearing it with a pair of tall, brown boots that are actually quite similar to the pair you own (and also from Amazon). I am going to wear it with a long duster sweater, which always make me feel like I am a less snarky version of Snape billowing wherever I go. ☺
