This is your best series to date. I didn’t know any of this stuff and I’ve been bowling like 30 years.

Great content man. Just started bowling more seriously a few months ago with my wife and her family (they’re all quite good) I’m hyper competitive and have been at the alley for 2-3 hours on my off days trying to improve. Your tips have been awesome. Started off at around 100 avg in their league, currently at around 130, and am starting to see pretty consistent 160-180 scores during my practice sessions. Crazy how much the little details matter, really tough sport. Super fun though. Thanks again for all the effort and content man.

I don’t have intentions to open my own shop or source drill presses and bits, but this entire series makes me appreciate and be involved more with services I buy at my local shop. Thank you, always great content - best videos for my lunch break.

Hey JR, can you do a "what's in my kit bag" for when you go to tournaments etc. Keen to see what you consider as your essentials etc and 'when you would use' each bit of equipment.

Marking the depth on the bit once"you"know, depending on chores and the pin,and scribe a few differently sized bits! Basically create you're set of drill bits,marked specifically doing the few brands that have it now. JoPo is the only brand that I know for thier product,you can also buy the complete installation all bits are preset with a release adapter!!!!

JR - great tips! I was wondering if you could do a video explaining how to accurately line up an oval insert into the inner sleeve of the switch grip. I am eager to test the Vise Pro V2 Ovals. I want to know how to install them accurately but also repeatable. THANKS!

I see a few techniques I'll start using here, thanks. To add to this, along with roughing up the slug, I also rough up the inside wall of the inner sleeve so the glue has more to adhere to. Also, not sure you shared it but your 2nd cut into the thumb was for the oval thumb shape, correct?

Can you do a vise grip thumb demo?

You left out a big step. Pitches. So what if the thumb hole has a pitch? When you put the inner sleeve in, do you drill it 0s or the actual pitch

How do you recommend resolving when the notches wear down and the inner doesn't click anymore? I usually put a small piece of thin thumb tape at the bottom of the outer sleeve. Any other ideas besides drill a new inner?
@Tenpindoctors
@Tenpindoctors 4 жыл бұрын
I purposely make it not click anymore because they are so incredibly tight to start. But yes just a small piece of tape helps when it gets too loose. Just have to remember, just because it doesnt "click" that doesn't mean the thumb is bad. Just have to tighten it up

I believe you said you drill the outer at 0/0 and, if necessary, drill the pitch(es) into the inner. How latitude do you have in the inner for drilling pitch(es)? Would you offset the center point to accommodate the pitch? (Hoping to see this in the next video!) Thanks for this series, JR!

Mark Holland, my guess: i think it’d be okay to drill the sleeves at 0/0 and drill the pitches on the slug after it’s cut down. I think the slug inside of the inner sleeve would have enough leeway to be pitched on it’s own (unless there’s a crazy 1/2 rev pitch that a customer uses)

Drill the pitch into the outer sleeve, unless you have a pretty small thumb you can’t have much different of pitch for the inner without drilling into the outer near the bottom of the hole
@markholland8953

@@Tad299 That was my concern, Tad. However, if using the largest inner with a thumb that would normally fit in the smallest inner, maybe?

I personally have not had any problems with turbo, also have used vise without issues. I will say that if the locking mechanism inside the ball on a VISE breaks it would be a bit more problematic and likely require the hole be plugged and redrilled vs turbo outer sleeve just needing to be replaced on the other side of things. To each their own but I think they are both good systems with their pros and cons
