Your videos are extraordinary! Well made, good illumination, love to the detail, no annoying talking, ... The videos are so much more entertaining than yet another time-lapse printing video for thingiverse stuff. The combination of 3d printing with other techniques is the reason why I love 3d printing. Keep up the great work!

I thought the same! I use CATIA for like half my life now, and even though I get the principle behind grasshopper (just linking geometric features, it's not much more than a usual feature tree in traditional CAD with extras I guess) I still feel Catia is so much easier ... which is by far not a popular opinion haha

Grasshopper is not a cad software it is a visual programing interface used to design parametric objects in Rhinoceros 3D. He could have designed the whole thing in Rhino or other cad software but then the model wouldn’t parameterized and so he would have to manually remodel every iteration.

Можно добавить еще один винт на верхнюю подвижную часть, чтобы можно было зафиксировать в нулевом положении, когда сверло только касается поверхности. Это позволило бы с помощью штангенциркулся выставлять основной ограничитель на необходимую глубину сверления.

Might I suggest the addition of linear rod bearings? They are relatively cheap and reduce the friction of the main action
@robertsnyder4480
@robertsnyder4480 Жыл бұрын
I was thinking of the same thing but have what I think is a cheaper solution. Get a multipack of grinding paste and lather up a rod and run it through the holes a bit with various amounts of the paste. cleaning would be a pain but you'd have a super smooth plastic on inside, or oversize it and put in metal bushings.

With my limited knowledge, the extra drill chuck feels unnecessary. Could you explain the choice?
@jothain
@jothain 2 жыл бұрын
Well the unit as whole doesn't make any sense to me. If you buy hardware for such flimsy design, you're already about 50% of cost of cheapest table drills that come with chuck and motor for bare minimum. Heck I got quite cheap Bosch model and it has got clamp, fence, digital display for depth, depth stop, variable knob adjustable speed and laser pointer. Cost of about four decent quality Jacobs chucks.
@lorupa
@lorupa 2 жыл бұрын
@@jothain With a big table drill you can't drill into some big things, here you can put the drill directly onto the workpiece. Also this is small and doesn't take up a lot of space in your home

I like the simplicity in the design but I doubt it's longevity. These vibration will probably make the contraption loose over time. I would stick there at least two nylon or delrin bushings to be the contact surface on that rod. This would also eliminate issues from microscopic dust. At least that's my intuition.

What is the software you're using for modeling? It looks exactly like what I want for my modeling.. Been using tinkercad and it's ok.. But misses fine tuning, and stuff like fusion is just overly complex for simple things

You could step this up to the next level by adding a dovetail to the bottom for rail mounting and optionally an acme threaded rod, an indicator, and a tape measure along the rail. You could get repeatably spaced holes. I don't require credit, just access to the cad files and/or if you make it send me one. Or even better a rod and linear bearing instead of a dovetail.
