Great review and I will definitely be recommending this to new owners that ask for help as it's a great intro. One thing with charging you may not be aware of: If using the Tesla UMC or Tesla Charger - just press the button on the type 2 plug in front of your charge port when the car is unlocked and it will open it for you automagically. Same goes for release - make sure the car is unlocked first and then press the button to unlock the charge port and pull it out.

Hi Dave, someone may have asked but do you mine telling us all here in Oz what the final payment was on the 3 you purchased? I live in NSW and on road costs will probably differ from WA. Enjoyed an Aussie perspective on the 3. I have only watched Andy from the states who is going to keep his Model 3 for 10 years and has covered 160,000kms in 4 yrs so far on a 2018 model. I am interested in purchasing the SR in the blue. Great informative video you have done here, congratulations 🥳
@teslahirewa90
@teslahirewa90 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Andrew, thanks for the feedback. Pricing varies not only from state to state, but Tesla also increases and decreases the price as they see fit (possibly linked to demand?). Since I purchased mine, there has been at least 1 price cut, so they're definitely cheaper now than when I bought mine, but I don't have any regrets at all and LOVE the car. Even after 12 months, I still find excuses to go for a drive because it's just so enjoyable to drive. Best to just head to tesla.com and select the state you are in and the specs you want and it'll show you the final price, including a breakdown of the stamp duties and fees etc.

Awesome video. Cant wait to pick it up tomorrow but Im guessing the indicator stalk will be the one that catches me out. Quick question, if a car is charged to 90% and then sat for a week with no charging, would the batteries decrease charge at all? I work FIFO so was wondering if it was parked in long term parking (1 or 2 weeks), would the charge decrease too much that I couldnt drive home? Thanks
@teslahirewa90

Great question! If you leave Sentry Mode active, it will drain the battery a couple of % each day, but even after a couple of weeks it should be fine. If you turn Sentry Mode off the battery drain will be very minimal. Hope you're excited for your time with the car - see you in the morning!

Great video .. what stops the keycard from slipping off the centre console, for example if you have to brake sharply or a passenger moving it.. and do you still need the keycard if you've paired your phone as a key? Having to remember to take the keycard in and out of your pocket seems a bit of step backwards compared to modern keyless entry/start systems..

The key card doesn't need to sit there, it just has to be tapped to activate the car and then it can be put away. And no, it's not required if your phone is connected.

What is the difference between the short press Park and long-press Park - is it simply a safety issue i.e. if you absolutely want to be safe, use the long press (as you did) e.g. if on a slope..? It's not necessary for standard charging at home or for destination chargers, however if heading to a Supercharger, it's best to use the in-car navigation to direct you there because that will also trigger the car to start preconditioning the battery so it's at optimum temperature when you arrive so it can charge as efficiently as possible.

I drive for Uber in the US and the only down side I see to this is having to keep the key car on the center console, which means someone could steal it very easily. Could the key card be in a person's pocket, positioned so it's near the center console or does it have to be actually touching the center console?
@deaj
@deaj 2 жыл бұрын
It doesn't have to sit there, you just need to tap it there to 'activate' it and then you can put the card away. We've since got a key fob which is even easier!

Another question because I drive for Uber: How "slide proof" are the floor mats in the back? Do they move easily or does it take some effort to move them around with your feet? Strange question, I know, but it's pretty annoying having to put the floor mats back in place after every single person moves them out of place.
@teslahirewa90
@teslahirewa90 2 жыл бұрын
No movement at all for me as the mats are a bit velcro-y on the bottom so they stay in place without sliding around.

So if you are city driving and you engage auto pilot every time you come to an intersection or stop sign you have to manually break? What if you did nothing will it just drive right through the stop sign?
@teslahirewa90
@teslahirewa90 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you need to manually brake at stop signs and traffic lights. If however, you splurge $10,100 for the Full Self Driving option, that's another story. I don't think it's good enough yet to warrant the price, hence I haven't upgraded to it, but it's nice that it's a simple software update away if I do decide I want it.

I'm a very new Tesla owner. I've only just started using voice commands and I'm only having a fair success rate (I suspect that often I don't use the exact term needed, which may be Americanised English?). What commands activate the windscreen demister and rear window demister? "Demister on" is not recognised. Any tips for this as well as any other useful voice commands are greatly appreciated please. Thanks in advance :)
