Change the code to delaymicroseconds(1000) instead of 500 if your motor feels gutless but still spins.

Hi there, one question: I just want to make one of these motors turn, without any stepping involved, but with variable speed controll through a potentiometer. So what do I really need besides the motor and a power supply? Cause I have bought the Nema17 motor and a 12V 5A power supply. Guess I also need one of these drivers, but do I really need an arduino or something like that as well for this simple task or is there a way around it? Cause I don't know anything about all this other complicated stuff, thought I can simply connect the power supply to the motor with a poti in between and good is, but it's not😬

There is if the current exceeds 1A. At >1A you'd need a heatsink. Or at least that's what other people tell me.

@MrInnovative
@MrInnovative 7 жыл бұрын
Driver took ampere as much as required by motor only. 5amp sources mean it is capable to deliver 5a if required , if motor required 1.7a then that much current only drawn from source

can someone tell me wtf my stepper motor is weak as hell? I can pinch the motor shaft to stop it rotating. Yet my 3d printer steppers (also nema17) (anet a8) are strong as hell! I cant even prevent the shaft from turning with all my strength. It my motor bad, stepper driver bad, power supply bad, arduino bad, i'm bad. I've tried messing with the stepper potentiometer in every which way possible, and the motor only gets strong when the potentiomer is set to a high value which make the chip on the stepper so hot that it stinks, and the glue on the heatsink melts! They are quoted to be 0.46nM torque (higher than my 3d printer steppers! which have a Rated Torque of 0.34nM and a Holding Torque 0.4nM) www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07GLMGQB3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
